Can you explain how the industry of travel between Canada and Spain alone generates jobs for millions?Gilles Hudicourt wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 2:09 amYou are quoting Fox News. Here are facts.pelmet wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 5:55 pm So much for the idea of opening up to Europe......

Unless we change our policy of economic shutdowns based on whatever method they have right now, AC and AT should consider becoming a mostly domestic operation like WJ. Unfortunately, not much future movement for those pilots based on that policy. But we can help by spending in Canada. I am heading out tomorrow for a nearby vacation spending my money here on Canadian owned businesses first.
Canada has a population of 37 million
Spain has a population of 47 million
Yesterday, Canada had 11 Covid deaths, Spain had none.
The day before yesterday Canada had 5 Covid deathS, Spain had 1.
Preventing flights between Spain and Canada will not make Canadians any safer. It will just cause millions of Canadians to loose their jobs, and maybe their homes.......

Re: Science-Based Alternative to Ease Quarantine Act Restrictions
Cool, now you brought up a comparison that illustrates an interesting point but likely not the one you wanted. The effort to protect us all from smoking is not really that restrictive or invasive and only slightly impacts people's lives. Not even remotely close to the impact on society and the world that this Covid response has. And yet, see for yourself the comparative number of deaths so far this year.Rockie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 1:53 amMy point is valid but if you prefer let’s use the “no smoking in public places” example instead even though second hand smoke didn’t have near the immediate health impact this virus has. Some people complained (my mother being one of them) but not too much because they ultimately realized their actions detrimentally affected other people. It’s a shame anti-maskers don’t have the same regard.5x5 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 6:58 pmAnd you miss my point which is - don't use BS to try and try and make your own points. Comparing something that affects very few shirtless and/or shoeless people only when they are trying to enter a business (primarily a restaurant or a bar) to something that affects the entire world in almost every person-to-person interaction isn't similar in any way whatsoever.
We are in a global pandemic and it’s a mask. Put one on without being such a whiny bitch about it. If you refuse and get denied entry into someplace blame your own stupidity, you can be sure that’s what everybody who sees you will be doing.
It's all about perspective which the pursuit of Covid has lost. And the chart doesn't even have the worst killer of all - starvation. Which is at almost 6,500,000 this year (10 times Covid) and would be easily eradicated through the simple supply of money and food. But we don't do that because it doesn't potentially impact us in the 1st world - we can't catch it, we can't give it to anyone else near and dear to us and best of all it mostly happens in another part of the world.
Being stupid around airplanes is a capital offence and nature is a hanging judge!

Wearing a mask is restrictive and invasive to delicate flowers like you perhaps but not most people.

The UK just cut off Spain. Canada shuts down its economy based on Covid cases, not Covid deaths. I am not interested in having beach partygoers inevitability bringing the virus back with its effects on thousands of businesses.Gilles Hudicourt wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 2:09 amYou are quoting Fox News. I started my domestic vacation today. At the restaurant, I was the only one there and the first customer for 90 minutes.
How about we spend the same amount of money for a European vacation in Canada. That will save jobs and homes.
If the government changes its shutdown policies(or unwillingness to open up yet), then I might support changing quarantine rules.
I believe part of Ontario is still not in phase 3 yet. Maybe we can support Canadian carriers by flying domestically. I am hesitant not for health so much as avoiding a quarantine if buddy three rows away had the virus.
That is why I try to avoid places where I might subsequently have a problem......
Someone at the store at the same time as me has the virus, the media reports and says to monitor. Go to a smaller location where you are not anonymous and someone has the virus, they trace back to you and want 14 days of your life.

I didnt see that, but I did see a picture circulating online, "split screen", with a screencap of the doctor on the right, and a lady on the left with crazy talk posters.
The doctor lives and works in Houston Texas. The crazy woman picture was taken somewhere in Mississippi.
Perhaps you have a link to proof?

Not the same quote but what she is saying is, at the very least from a medical perspective, at the same level of crazy. Would you send your loved one to be treated by her?

The video in which she appeared was taken down because she is...what's the expression: bat-crap crazy? Look no further than her tweet posted July 27th:
"Stella Immanuel MD @stella_immanuel
Hello Facebook put back my profile page and videos up or your computers with start crashing till you do. You are not bigger that God. I promise you. If my page is not back up face book will be down in Jesus name."
On the upside, she claims to have divine backing, so she's got that going for her.

Re: Science-Based Alternative to Ease Quarantine Act Restrictions
Perhaps perspective has been replaced by fear. It seems like most people I talk to aren’t ready to take the gamble with covid and their health. I know many vulnerable people close to me that could be finished if they caught it and it’s a tough thought to wrestle with. Maybe I’m a scaredy-cat, who knows. Maybe if they were already dead and buried, or young and in perfect health, I would think differently. The point is, we all hold a different pair of dice.5x5 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 10:44 amIt's all about perspective which the pursuit of Covid has lost. Even if we do learn to simply “live with it” (an ironic expression considering people would have to die), for the near future, many more people will continue to die from covid. Without restrictions, it’d be millions. We can lock it down and economically kill people off instead, but at the end of the day, someone is going to have to take the sacrifice through all this. There’s no moral easy way out.
For those of us who are facing unemployment, these times can be stressful, frustrating, and make us feel angry. However, the more we can put aside these negative emotions, deal with what we’ve got, and focus on the relationships in our lives, I think the better off we will be.

Fear of Trump’s reaction ? Even the Bahamas had the guts to open up to a list of countries that does not include the United States.Experts say Canada is hesitant to relax restrictions on European travelers while maintaining strict rules against citizens from the United States, the country's largest trading partner, where coronavirus cases are rising.

All three(including Spain which I mentioned earlier) are on AC’s list.
A friend of mine who drives a truck told me the other day that you can make 300K if you really go at it. Perhaps if you go easy, you can still make half that which is not so bad as a temporary job for a couple of years until things are under control.
Personally, I think the government should not let truckers cross the border and have the trailer taken by a Canadian rig ready to go.
Some like to call us truck or bus drivers anyways.

"Center for Disease Control Director Robert Redfield said ... that suicides and drug overdoses have surpassed the death rate for COVID-19 among high school students. Redfield argued that lockdowns and lack of public schooling constituted a disproportionally negative impact on young peoples’ mental health."
Conservatives have been saying this for a long time now, only to be criticized and ostracized endlessly. Now, the authoritative CDC Director is sounding the same warning! Never before have I seen such a huge mountain made of such a small deal, as COVID-19 is only slightly greater of a danger than is the Common Flu, with which Americans deal every year.

The CDC's reputation and credibility is in the same dumpster the rest of that administrations is.Stumper wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:36 am Center for Disease Control Director Robert Redfield said ... that suicides and drug overdoses have surpassed the death rate for COVID-19 among high school students.
