I have tried to call Kenora Air and left many messages regarding float employment but I got no replies, no e-mail so I don't know what went wrong. I have 96 hours on floats and been previously employed at Elliott lake but maybe they didn't think I had enought time so they didn't even bother saying that you are not good enough. All I would like is a reply whether it be positive or negative. Kenora is a nice place but for me to get another 150 hours on floats, I just don't know how I will do it. I have been to Red Lake, Ignace, Wawa but no luck. Phillyfan, any info would be nice, and thank you all.

They are one of those "open clause operators" (Although they did say 250 float) Try faxing your resume as well. Other than that I would really burn up the phone lines getting in touch with camp operators. Many camp operators have aircraft registered privately that are used for camp checks. The extreme insurance requirements don’t apply in these cases. I would get at it real quick though. Once the temperatures start to go above zero. Operators really start gearing up for the season. ie: Doing there hiring.

Phillyfan, I tried faxing, e-mailing not my resume but info that I called and mailed my resume but no response, but thank you for the info it is really appreciated. Any other info would be great, and by the way the last couple of years I started looking for a float job in February and guys were saying that it was a little to early, that I should wait till April when the ice melts, but do you know what the operators tell me in February, "Oh I hired a guy in early January, sorry" I guess they just want to push you out the door. Really guys, I don't know what to do in terms of putting in some more float time and bush time, But Hey!

Why don't you actually stop in there while you're on your road trip(assuming you're doing one). Nice people and as the season gets closer to opening keep up the weekly visits, they may be getting down to the wire. Also, there are a few other operators in the area so stop in and visit them as well while you're in town. Kenora's probably a little too populated to get your start on floats, meaning, others with more experience would rather work there than in butt-**** nowhere.
