Battle of Britain was made in the 60's. It used real airplanes for the most part. Its a great "love in" for the WW 2 planes.
Dunkirk has some spitfire love in it.
The Blue Max also had lots of "real" flying in it.
I guess I just want to look at the planes .
Those magnificent men in their flying machines is good for antique planes....
American Made if you like the Aerostar.
While not quite movies, the instructional videos for american aviators in WW2 like "welcome to the P47" kinda stuff is neat.
Its a mad mad world is cool for a look at a brand new beech 18 flying through a sign!, without CGI

damn, that was awesome !
I had no idea Airplane spoofed that; to a T i might add.
I want to watch the whole Zero Hour now.

Zero Hour! the movie that Airplane was based on. Suppose to be serious, but after Airplane, it is just so much cheese.

Great movie. The acting is bad and it’s full of technical holes, but it’s a good story premise and the flying is terrific and almost non-stop. I’d love to see a remake.

Does Snakes on a Plane count?
I'm honestly surprised that Memphis Belle didn't come up earlier.

Murphy’s War. Starring the Grumman Duck, with Peter O’toole as co-star. Frank Tallman is not gentle with the rare (even rarer after filming) amphib.

"Goldy, how many times have I told you guys I don't want no horsin' around on the airplane?"
"I'm not horsing around sir."
"We'll I've been to one world fair a picnic and a rodeo and that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard come over a pair of earphones."
Although the Blue Max is pretty good too.

Can we count tv shows? Private Plane from Black Adder is obviously the best aviation themed 22 minutes ever recorded.

Peter Sellers best line in a movie : no fighting in the War Room
If you pay attention to the Spitfire flying in the Battle of Britain you will see the correct way to execute ground staffing of enemies, the plane was flown low enough to make level head shots from the cannons , they had to climb to get over the sheep fence

Re: Favorite Aviation Movie?
Nobody has mentioned The Dam Busters yet have they?
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: Favorite Aviation Movie?
Not sure if this totally counts but the animated movie Porco Russo is pretty great. It's on Netflix Canada
