Re: Air Canada Hires Influencers Promoting Travel Amid Non-Essential travel Ban
Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is the level of intelligence you will get from the frauds that will leave you in the dark.
Now you know why they should be voted out in the next election..
Meanwhile, from someone who knows what they are talking about:
"Why are millions of Americans in the nation’s most energy-rich state without power and heat for days amid extreme winter weather? “The people who have fallen short with regard to the power are the private power generation companies,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott explained. Ah, yes, blame private power companies . . . that are regulated by government.
The Republican sounds like California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, who lambasted private utilities for rolling blackouts during a heat wave last summer. Power grids should be able to withstand extreme weather. But in both these bellwether states, state and federal energy policies have created market distortions and reduced grid reliability.
Mr. Abbott blamed his state’s extensive power outages on generators freezing early Monday morning, noting “this includes the natural gas & coal generators.” But frigid temperatures and icy conditions have descended on most of the country. Why couldn’t Texas handle them while other states did?
The problem is Texas’s overreliance on wind power that has left the grid more vulnerable to bad weather. Half of wind turbines froze last week, causing wind’s share of electricity to plunge to 8% from 42%. Power prices in the wholesale market spiked, and grid regulators on Friday warned of rolling blackouts. Natural gas and coal generators ramped up to cover the supply gap but couldn’t meet the surging demand for electricity—which half of households rely on for heating—even as many families powered up their gas furnaces. Then some gas wells and pipelines froze.
In short, there wasn’t sufficient baseload power from coal and nuclear to support the grid. Baseload power is needed to stabilize grid frequency amid changes in demand and supply. When there’s not enough baseload power, the grid gets unbalanced and power sources can fail. The more the grid relies on intermittent renewables like wind and solar, the more baseload power is needed to back them up.
But politicians don’t care about grid reliability until the power goes out. And for three decades politicians from both parties have pushed subsidies for renewables that have made the grid less stable.
Start with the 1992 Energy Policy Act signed by George H.W. Bush, which created a production tax credit to boost the infant wind industry. Generators collect up to $25 per megawatt hour of power they produce regardless of market demand. The credit was supposed to expire in 1999, but nothing lasts longer than a temporary government program, as Ronald Reagan once quipped.
The renewables lobby found GOP allies in windy states like Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa. Former Enron CEO Ken Lay, who had made a big bet on wind, begged then Texas Gov. George W. Bush in 1998 to lobby Congress to extend the credit for five years. Congress has since extended it more than a dozen times, most recently in December.
Wind producers persuaded former Gov. Rick Perry to back a $5 billion network of transmission lines to connect turbines in western Texas to cities. This enabled them to build more turbines—and collect more tax credits. Because the Texas grid is often oversupplied, wind producers sometimes pay to off-load their power, though they still turn a profit with the tax credits.
Coal and nuclear are more strictly regulated and can’t compete, and many coal plants have shut down in Texas and elsewhere. Over the last decade about 100 gigawatts of coal power nationwide has been retired—enough to power 60 million homes. Many nuclear plants are scheduled to shut down, including large reactors in New York and Illinois this year.
Renewables and natural gas are expected to substitute, but Texas is showing their limitations. In the Lone Star State, bad weather has constrained the supply of gas, but government policies do the same in other states. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey’s Phil Murphy have blocked pipelines to deliver shale gas from Pennsylvania to the Northeast.
Their pipeline blockade has driven up the cost of electricity. The average retail price of power is about 50% higher in New Jersey and New York than in Pennsylvania. They and other governors have also poured subsidies into wind and solar, though neither can provide reliable power in frosty weather.
Many states also have renewable mandates that will force more fossil-fuel generators to shut down. New York has required that renewables account for 70% of state power by 2030. Then layer on Democratic policies at the federal level that limit fossil-fuel production and distribution.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is supposed to ensure grid reliability, but under Barack Obama it promoted renewables over reliability. Democrats opposed efforts by Trump appointees to mitigate market distortions caused by state renewable subsidies and mandates that jeopardized the grid. On present trend, this week’s Texas fiasco is coming soon to a cold winter or hot summer near you.
The end result of Rockie thought(or lack thereof).

And this my friends is how the green frauds are exposed. An article in the WSJ about what really happened and we see the complete inability to formulate anything close to an intelligent response. Only more insults.
Remember that when you vote.
And that ladies and gents, is how you expose a con artist. Keep that in mind for any other subject Rockie comments on.
Next.

It’s not an article, it’s an opinion piece from the WSJ editorial board. It says so right at the top. Do I need to post the definitions of “fact” and “opinion” so you can see the difference or can you look that up all by yourself?Dh8Classic wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 6:31 am An article in the WSJ about what really happened and we see the complete inability to formulate anything close to an intelligent response.

Which takes us back to the beginning of my back and forth with Rockie over the last few days. Rockie and his foolish fellow thinkers want to not only close the energy pipeline to Michigan(and Ontario by the way) but also block the replacement. The inevitable end result. Much higher cost to you and freezing in the dark/roasting in the heat.
Vote to keep these fools out of power whenever you can.

The opinion piece (learn what that means) omits a ton of facts as does your brain. I don't argue facts with people who are blind to them due to the old saying "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them think". It's like debating a dog...what for? I'd rather beat my head against a wall for two hours because at least it feels better when you stop. There's literally nothing to be gained from arguing facts with an idiot whose earflaps close up as soon as one approaches him.Dh8Classic wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:05 am As you can see ladies and gentlemen, not one argument put forth by Rockie to show how this information in the article is somehow incorrect. Israel is at 98 percent vaccination, well above "herd immunity"
Now they are talking about a fourth lockdown. Looks like new normal folks! Even with a vaccine you will forever wear a mask and lockdown periodically. Guess we all got duped to believe a vaccine was going to bring normalcy back

One of my biggest problems with covid since day one... Why is it when people die after getting a vaccine it's just old age.. . When someone gets covid and dies it's a covid death?
old people die... How many covid deaths were people who were on their final months? Already had underlying conditions etc? Now they have to push these articles that normalize death of old people... Well no shit! The fact they have to publish this crap keeps reminding me how overblown the hysteria is.

That actually isn’t the case. There have been that many vaccinations per 100 people, but some large number are going towards people’s second doses.montado wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 4:38 pm https://www.timesofisrael.com/as-transm ... ssibility/

According to our worldindata.org 56.6 % have received their first vaccinations. 42.2 % have received both doses. Careful of the details. It has been estimated that significant drops through herd immunity would not be noticed until 70%+ percent are fully vaccinated.

“Additionally, 4,901,143 Israelis have received the first vaccine dose, of whom 3,654,797 have also received the second. Several million Israelis are ineligible for the vaccine, most of them under the age of 16.
According to Prof. Eran Segal of the Weizmann Institute, some 87% of all Israelis aged 16 and up who aren’t ultra-Orthodox or Arab have either recovered from COVID-19 or received at least one vaccine dose.
The equivalent figure for the ultra-Orthodox community was 72%, while the lowest immunization rate, 64%, has been observed among Arab Israelis.”
Population of Israel 9,197,590, in what friggen world is 3.6 million 98%, even if you count the ones who had only one dose, it’s still nowhere close to 97%, Stop your propaganda!

Impending pipeline closure will have far reaching negative consequences
BROCKVILLE, ON, Feb. 12, 2021 /CNW/ - Urgent action is needed by Prime Minister Trudeau to protect the interests, livelihoods and security of Canadians. In 12 short weeks, on May 12, 2021, Enbridge Line 5 will be forced to shut down by the state of Michigan, leaving significant energy shortfalls in Ontario and Quebec. This issue has gone under the radar for too long and the majority of Canadians do not even know that this energy crisis exists. It appears that this issue is not getting the attention it deserves from the Federal government.
In November 2019, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer moved to revoke an easement that allows for the ongoing Enbridge Line 5 operations. The line is a critical energy artery for Ontario - its shutdown will have devastating effects on the provincial economy causing fuel shortages, increasing energy costs and creating massive job losses across the province.
Energy shortages are a real concern for industry, but should also be a concern for the average citizen. Currently line 5 supplies about 45% of the petroleum refined in Ontario and Quebec. Ontario receives 540,000 barrels a day that is processed into gasoline, diesel and propane. To give an idea of the scale of this issue – Pearson airport relies on 100% of its jet fuel for Line 5. Moreover, from an economic development point-of-view this potential closing will lead to significant major disruptions in supply chains forcing rationing and ultimately driving up fuel prices for all businesses and the average citizen. Simply put, this line is critical for our daily lives and shutting it down will mean there won't be enough fuel to look after our needs from personal driving, transportation of groceries and goods, heating fuel and the fuel needs of industry and farms. Of course, this will affect refinery jobs in places like Sarnia - which expects to lose almost 5000 quality high paying jobs but indirectly will affect an additional 23,500 jobs. Those jobs are held by real hardworking people. These jobs will be lost at a time that thousands of our neighbors, friends and family are already facing employment losses due to the pandemic.
There are no good solutions for solving for the energy shortfall through alternative sources. Transporting the same amount of crude oil and natural gas liquids as delivered by Line 5 would require 2,000 trucks or 800 rail cars going one-way each day. A recent study conducted on behalf of the State of Michigan found that alternatives to Line 5 would significantly increase the price of propane on both a wholesale and retail level and stress existing transportation infrastructure. As Canadians the shadow of Lac-Megantic is still very much in our collective consciousness. More ships in the St. Lawrence Seaway hardly feels like an environmental victory!
Our organization's mission is to attract industry and support the expansion of industry in Eastern Ontario. This issue of closing Line 5 imperils our safe and reliable energy security. Unfortunately, this has far reaching implications including 2 chilling effects that make this mission more difficult:
1.
It creates an environment of volatility and leads multinational firms that are looking globally for new industrial sites to question our energy infrastructure and reliability. The cost of our energy in Ontario is already high compared to other jurisdictions; however, the availability and reliability of energy has never been in question till now. This shutdown will affect site selection opportunities in the future.
2.
It requires existing industries to develop energy contingency plans which are costly and are a distraction for organizations that are focused on COVID recovery, daily operations and customer satisfaction. Ultimately this will lead to higher cost for manufacturers that will be passed to consumers or lead to job losses as production is shifted to plants with reliable energy supply.
Enbridge's Line 5 is a vital piece of our energy infrastructure and security and has been in operation since 1953. Our economic and energy security is at stake and deserves the highest priority attention from our government.
We ask Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to make this issue a priority and work with President Biden to avert this shutdown. Failure on this is not an option, thousands of jobs will be lost, it will undermine economic development and attraction activities, it will destabilize existing manufacturing firms and make it more expensive for Ontarians to drive their cars, feed their families and heat their homes.
Mr. Trudeau this issue requires your personal attention and action.
Sincerely,
