Save Our Country & Our Industry
Save Our Country & Our Industry
Our country is being run by a Drama Teacher (PM), A Journalist (Finance Minister) and a Graphic Designer (Health Minister). That should ring alarm bells. If not, here’s more:
Our industry has not been given any sector specific aid, despite being strung along for a year now. The airlines are not failing due to their own mistakes. They are handcuffed due to government policy. Canada is the only G7 country to not help it’s airline sector. Luckily, a recent motion passed in parliament to aid us, but only 1 Liberal voted yes. Our very own Transport Minister voted against it. The motion has passed but we mustn’t sit back now. The money will NOT make its way to us until the next budget and perhaps even longer. Furthermore, it is a band-aid solution which only helps prolong the pain. We need to get flying again.
A singular focus on mitigating COVID has resulted in us destroying the social, psychological, physical, financial and constitutional fabric of this country.
Our policies are run by scientifically proven flawed PCR testing methods. Labelling of deaths potentially has its own flaws (more can be revealed by release of 2020 Statistics Canada Annual Deaths data). The harms of lockdowns are ignored. The devastated economy is being ignored. Our Pandemic Response Plans have been thrown in the trash. The Ontario Premier (and some other ones) is using emergency powers for over a year to implement policies, without any oversight. Initial projections of COVID were highly flawed and over-the-top, yet we've continued to ignore evidence to the contrary. We shun good news and crave fear. Any questions against the narrative receive immediate backlash. Something is very wrong here.
Canada is the laughing stock of the world. The rest of the world is getting vaccinated at record pace, opening up their economies and getting back to normal, while we are moving further backward over "what might happen".
Vaccines have resulted in 4 consecutive days of Zero-COVID related deaths in Ontario long term care homes: https://tgam.ca/30GmNqd
YET there are talks of a third impending lockdown and shutting down “leaky travel” further due to the fear of variants: https://tgam.ca/2Nan55R
The government is simply using demagogy to make decisions (political activity or practices which seek support by appealing to the desires,
prejudices and emotions of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument). To be frank, the politicians are doing this because it is what the majority of public wants. It’s like giving in to your child’s desire of eating candy everyday, despite knowing it is not good for them.
It’s time to stop letting children run this country. We need to speak up. Silence implies agreement. Science will come back to remodel this date. History will not be kind. Please read, share and educate everyone we know through the attached PDF.

THE INDISPUTABLE HARMS OF LOCKDOWNS THAT ARE BEING IGNORED
If you believe a lockdown puts life and health ahead of the economy, you have been gravely misled. Lockdowns destroy and kill more lives than they save.
David Nabarro, WHO special envoy for COVID-19, has stated:

One of the most comprehensive cost-benefit analyses of a lockdown was performed by Dr. Ari Joffe, a Canadian infectious disease expert, who initially supported lockdowns but is now a strong opponent. These lockdown deaths are due to restricted medical care such as
• Delay of elective surgeries
• Interrupted Health Services for undiagnosed heart and cancer patients
• Lack or prevention of accessible treatment for current patients dealing with tuberculosis, malaria, HIV and children vaccination campaigns
The following repercussions of a lockdown also have a negative impact on life expectancy and illness.
• Poverty & Financial Stress
• Food Insecurity accompanying Malnutrition/Starvation
• Relationship Strains, including Divorce
• Domestic Abuse
• Deteriorating Mental Health
• Social Isolation (top 3 predictor for heart disease)

The Global Economic forecast estimated pandemic-induced poverty worldwide in 2020 will increase by a minimum of 119 million people, due to the supply chain disruptions and unemployment caused by lockdowns.
This will result in a global hunger pandemic for 82-132 million people.
The Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank has reported a 200% increase in clients accessing the food banks. Visits in August 2020 were up by 50%, when compared to a year earlier.
A January 2021 United Nations report stated 4 times as many jobs were lost in 2020 due to COVID-19 induced lockdowns, when compared to the 2009 financial crisis.
The Director of the Princess Margaret Centre in Toronto predicts a “tsunami of cancer” in the future, due to limited screenings during the first wave of the lockdown. Late diagnoses, in many cases, will lead to much worse outcomes.
Here is what was noted by Ontario Health for 3 major cancer screenings:
• 97% decrease in mammograms (Ontario Breast Screening Program)
• 88% decrease in Pap tests (Ontario Cervical Screening Program)
• 73% decrease in fecal tests (ColonCancerCheck Program)
During the Feb-June 2020 time period (first lockdown), Canada experienced 353900 postponed surgeries, procedures and consultations due to lockdowns, resulting in increased suffering and deaths. (no data was released on deaths)
During the same time period, the Ontario surgical backlog had an average weekly increase of 11413 surgeries resulting in a total of 150000 backlogged surgeries. This is estimated to take 84 weeks to clear, almost 1.5 years. How many can survive a backlog this long?

The UK has experienced an 83% increase in Alzheimer’s/dementia deaths, due to the isolation of lockdowns. People are dying alone without seeing family in the final days and months of their lives.
Based on a Statistics Canada survey with 4600 participants – using information from the first lockdown:
• 19% of respondents increased their alcohol
• 35% of respondents increased their junk food consumption
In a peer-reviewed UK study for people in addiction recovery prior to the pandemic: 39% have relapsed. This represents a total of 1 million UK citizens.
Ontario experienced a 38% increase in drug overdose deaths during the 15 weeks of the first lockdown wave. Alberta & B.C. have seen similar rises.
During the first lockdown, there was a 60% increase in domestic violence emergency calls in the European WHO states. Online enquiries for violence prevention support hotlines increased as much as 500%.
The Canadian Mental Health Association concluded a study with 3027 Canadians.
Here are some highlights:
• 10% experienced recent thoughts of suicide (up from 2.5% pre-COVID)
• 40% have had their mental health decline
• 27% are worried about putting food on the table
• 18% report fearing physical and mental abuse while trapped at home
A Canadian Psychiatric Research report projected between 418-2114 excess suicides in Canada in 2020 (depending on 1.6% to 10.7% increase in unemployment)
𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘆.
The Canadian Centre for Child Protection has stated online sexual exploitation of Canadian children is up 88%.
Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario has reported a 200% increase in infant head trauma and bone injuries, due to maltreatment concerns. Based on reports from their countrywide colleagues, it appears places which have had more significant lockdown restrictions are seeing this pattern of injuries.
In 2020, children’s surgeries in Ontario lowered by 60%, when compared to 2019.
Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto has seen an unprecedented crisis in children’s eating disorders. The United States is seeing similar trends.
Children need to return and stay in school. Over a 100 Ontario doctors have written an open letter to the government regarding this. Children have an incredibly low risk to COVID, in terms of lethality and in terms of transmission. For their age group, COVID is less dangerous than the flu.
Lastly, lockdowns are causing our general health and immunity to be being lowered. 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲.We have lowered our bodies’ response to any sort of infection, including COVID.
Why has there been no discussion of this collateral damage from a lockdown? The basic principle of public health is to look at ALL harms, which is not being done. Is COVID the only thing which matters anymore? We have only looked at short term gratification, while disregarding long term destruction.
Lockdowns create a fantasy that we can control this virus, when in reality this seems impossible. Learning to live with it, while minimizing harms, is really the only way forward.
The damage from a lockdown is far too expansive to cover in this article, but here is a resource of vetted peer-reviewed studies of the global lockdown effects: https://collateralglobal.org/
An extremely important point must be noted. Lockdowns are a choice and a political decision. 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀, 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗗 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰. Lockdown benefits must be weighed against the drawbacks, but a formal analysis was never done by our political leaders.
The true selfishness in this pandemic has not been by the supposed “rule breakers” who are causing the virus spread. It is exhibited by those promoting lockdowns while ignoring the harms. Lockdowns have caused more damage than COVID ever could have. The cure has become worse than the virus.
𝗗𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?
A peer-reviewed Stanford study analyzed the effectiveness of NPIs (non-pharmaceutical inventions) in 10 countries. It compared Sweden and Korea, which used less-restrictive NPIs vs 8 other countries that used more-restrictive NPIs (i.e. lockdowns using mandatory stay-at-home orders and business closures): https://bit.ly/3ceWmNP
RESULT: More-restrictive NPIs (lockdowns) resulted in no significant beneficial effect on case growth in any country. Similar results can be achieved using less restrictive measures. There is emerging evidence that seasons play a big role in viral cases (similar to the flu). Warmer weather lowers cases.
Another realistic comparison can be made between Florida and California. Florida did not lockdown or have mask mandates, but the latter did. Yet, Florida has seen similar cases, hospitalizations, and a lower amount of deaths per capita, despite having more seniors. Both have seen similar trends in cases and deaths dropping. A blanket lockdown on the entire population, using emergency powers, is government overreach. It is an abuse of every Canadian’s rights, freedoms and civil liberties. Canadians do not need every aspect of their life micromanaged like they are children. The government’s role is to inform everyone of the realistic risk, reduce fear, increase confidence, and set guidelines without impinging on their rights and choices.
Dr. Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, made a statement in April 2020, regarding lockdowns, but it has not aged well:
“𝘈𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦-𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴... 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘳𝘶𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭.”
The World Medical Association Declaration of Geneva signed by many countries after World War II, guides medical ethics globally and states:
“𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵; 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘯𝘭𝘺, 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘳.”
This is being violated by public health officials in Canada and across the world.
The UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights
• forbids any government from treating some people as worth less than others.
• forbids government from sacrificing some people for the benefit of others and knowingly impose harms on them, to serve an alleged greater good.
• forbids government from imposing a hierarchy of rights on their citizens.
• Are you essential or non-essential? Each category now has different rights and freedoms and different levels of individual autonomy. Some have the right to earn a living while others do not. Some have the right to choose how to balance the risks and priorities in their lives while others do not. How can any business or job which feeds a family not be considered essential?
• Civil liberty is now unequal across the country. A citizen’s freedom in Montreal is not the same as in Toronto or Vancouver.
• Lockdowns have been applied at the expense of those least able to protect themselves.

To impose limits on the rights and freedoms of Canadians, the Charter of Rights & Freedoms states the government must “demonstrably justify” those limits as “reasonable”. It is obligated to provide Parliament and the public with all scientific evidence, including views of those who disagree with the government’s assumptions. This was not done.
Apart from negatively impacting public health and constitutional rights, lockdowns have also battered the economy.

Socio-economic factors are the greatest indicator for the general health of the population, mentally, physically and in terms of life expectancy. Look at any third-world country. Look at the impoverished demographic of any population set.
Canadian Federal Deficit:

Every country has spent money as part of pandemic relief, but Canada has outpaced all others. 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝘁-𝘁𝗼-𝗚𝗗𝗣 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱, 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟴𝟬%. We have spent the most amount of money in proportion to what our economy generates.
Our last federal budget was released in March 2019, a gap of 2 years. This is the longest gap in recorded history. A pandemic does complicate budget releases, but every other G7 country released a budget in 2020. Every Canadian province and territory also released a budget in 2020.
We have no idea where all the money has gone. The auditor general has been denied the resources to even keep track of it. Not only are we spending at historical rates; we are doing it with no oversight.
Our Minister of Finance resigned during Summer 2020. A day after the Fall Economic statement was released on Nov 30, 2020, our Deputy Minister of Finance also resigned.
Our current Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland, has no background in this field. Watch her in Parliament: https://fb.watch/23ypw_Ru1_/
The following industries have been devastated:

• Arts & Entertainment
• Hospitality
• Restaurants

• Retail
Even if you do not think these are important in day-to-day life, they are a key cog in the Canadian economy and the source of employment for millions of Canadians. The effects will ripple through all economic sectors.
In January 2021, Canada lost 213000 jobs and the unemployment rate rose to 9.4%. This is the worst unemployment rate in the G7. Moreover, the number is deceiving. It is artificially held low by government subsidies and by ridiculous requirements to be considered “unemployed”.
The true unemployment number could be as high as 30%, if not more. This number reflects a staggering 10-15 million Canadians unemployed.
Ontario lost 335000 jobs in 2020, the highest annual loss in history. Ontario’s unemployment rate is at 9.6%, the highest since 1993.
A July 2020 Canadian Federation Of Independent Business (CFIB) reports 218000 small-to-medium Canadian businesses are at risk of closing permanently. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝟭 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝟱 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀. This was before a second lockdown was announced, and is clearly much worse now. These small businesses employ almost 3 million Canadians.
A February 2021 CFIB report states 70% of Canadian small businesses have taken on average debt of $170,000 due to lockdowns. In Ontario, this is worse, with average business debt at $208,000.
A Canadian Chamber of Commerce report states 51.3% of ALL Canadian businesses may not be able to continue to operate at current revenue levels, with smaller businesses facing even higher unknowns.
On the other hand, large corporations and big box stores are thriving. The price of a lockdown is not equally borne across the Canadian population, hitting the poorer demographic the hardest.
We are all in the same storm, but not the same boat.
As Pierre Poilievre (MP Carleton) said, “𝘞𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺”
𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗢𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀?
Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table:
• In October 2020, restaurants, bars, fitness centres and clubs were the source of 0.7% of all known COVID transmissions in Ontario.
• 58% of COVID cases were of unknown origin. Given the scrutiny experienced by small businesses (and travel), it is highly unlikely they were part of this.
• The primary known source, close contact, adds up to 45% of Ontario COVID transmissions. This means living in the same home, or being within 2 metres of someone in a workspace, same room or area.
Restaurants met the strict protocols of the government and set up diligent contract tracing. Now, they get targeted as the “source” of COVID infections because they are one of the few industries required to provide contact tracing.
Has Walmart and Costco taken the contact information of every customer who enters the premises? No tracing = no cases = let them stay open.
In what logical world does it make sense to close all small businesses and cramp everyone together into the big box stores? Where is the scientific evidence? Watch this question being (non)answered in Parliament: http://alturl.com/ekkdy
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business put forward a retail plan in November 2020 to the provincial government, asking small businesses be allowed operate with safety measures of only 3 people in store at a time. This common-sense measure was ignored.
Our politicians are blindly flailing at theories to control this virus. How can a politician rob someone of their entire livelihood based on a hunch?
It is time we started to take control of our own destiny and use science and rationale to make decisions, instead of fear and emotion.

(Credit: Shelley Wister)
To impose limits on the rights and freedoms of Canadians, the Charter of Rights & Freedoms states the government must “demonstrably justify” those limits as “reasonable”. It is obligated to provide Parliament and the public with all scientific evidence, including views of those who disagree with the government’s assumptions. This was not done.
Apart from negatively impacting public health and constitutional rights, lockdowns have also battered the economy.
𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗠𝗬
Socio-economic factors are the greatest indicator for the general health of the population, mentally, physically and in terms of life expectancy. Look at any third-world country. Look at the impoverished demographic of any population set.

• Aviation
• Tourism
• Arts & Entertainment
• Hospitality
• Restaurants
• Fitness

Closing all roads to vehicle traffic saves lives, but that doesn’t make it right, nor does it quantify any of the consequences of closing the roads.
If most cases are from close contacts, I guess this is a matter of personal responsibility. Why should everyone lockdown to save lives when the very people who get covid are people who had close contact to someone. They made that choice. It’s a fact you can’t get covid if you physically distance from everyone. I invite everyone to make that personal choice. If you get covid and die, tough luck... you should have stayed home.
Now that we understand getting covid was a personal choice everyone has made, I guess that puts it on the individual, just like it should be. Your health is your responsibility, not mine. I couldn’t care less if you choose to lockdown in your house for a decade. Happy living... I’ll be out in that scary world risking my life every day.
Edit...

So even if lockdowns saves lives, why should I give a shit? Did anyone care to lockdown for the millions of people who died from influenza the last few years?

Would be fun if firefighters decide not to show up because they don't want to get covid. Or police. Or paramedics. Or grocery store employees. Or gas station attendants. Yes, exactly. Especially those people who chose to keep showing up to work so they could eat, and pay the rent. It's their fault for not starving!
I came down with a really, really nasty case of the flu this winter (not the Vid, I had two tests done, both negative). It knocked me out for the better part of a month. My wife brought it home from a job where she does not have the option to work from home. Her employer has gone above and beyond every known safety measure, as has she. Our other choice, of course, would be for her to quit her job so we don't get sick - but that would leave us homeless and starving as I am currently unemployed.
So, with all respect, you can take that sanctimonious opinion and shove it up your ass.
I will dance the sky on laughter-silvered wings.

This keeps coming up, but this is all about the health care system. Nothing more, nothing less. It has a certain capacity which cannot magically be expanded. X number of doctors, nurses, etc.
Uncontrolled spread of the virus, would have meant capacity maxed out treating Covid cases, which means no beds available for your heart attack. Or your child's accident.
Unless you expect them to turn away all the Covid cases.
As I've said before, I wouldn't want to the be premier, or mayor of Toronto, making these decisions.
If you all can better, awesome.

Yes being alive puts you at risk for death. We could say the same about car accidents. You could crash on the way to work. You have to take the personal responsibility to drive as safe as possible... But just like covid you can't control everyone on the road like you can't control people out spreading a virus. So you have to decide do I accept that risk?RedAndWhiteBaron wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:11 pmYes, exactly. So basically what your opinion is, is that lockdowns make the difference for you in your risk profile... With lockdown you feel safe to go to work... If there was no lockdow, it's suddenly unsafe to take on that risk of having to go to work? I'm surprised this makes all the difference for people when it's smoke and miorrs half measure lockdown.
Personally there has been very few government policies this pandemic that made me feel more safe. I have taken my own personal responsibilities to stay safe with the choices I make. I never though Doug Ford closing ski hills really did anything for anyone... But if this kind of shit makes you feel warm and fuzzy more power to you... Probably more of it to come. Then go find the study that shows how awesome it is... Maybe we should just ban indoor dining all together for life because you never know when a virus might get ya!
I’m surprised that people in this industry who understand risk and mitigation are hung up on covid. Maybe we shouldn’t fly when there’s a cloud in the sky. The Swiss cheese might have to many holes eh? What, flying at night... are you crazy? Shut er down!

MUTANT FEAR New Covid variant detected in travellers from Antigua as 4 more cases of Brazil strain identified

A NEW Covid variant has been found in England, Public Health England confirmed today.
It emerged after two infected people returned from Antigua to the south east of England.
Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates...
1
It was declared a Variant Under Investigation on March 4, and has two mutations which can evade vaccines and speed up transmission.
No other cases have been found of this variant so far, after teams worked to speak to any close contacts and the pair isolated.
It comes as four more cases of the Brazil variant, known as P.1, have been found in the UK.
Three cases emerged in South Gloucestershire and one in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
The cases in South Gloucestershire are all close or household contacts of two existing infections in the area.
Surge testing was deployed in response to the initial cases, with specialist teams working to track down any other contacts.
The person in Bradford infected with the variant tested positive in late February, after travelling back from Brazil via Paris on February 14.
The latest cases bring the total number of P.1 variant cases in the UK to ten – seven in England and three in Scotland, all of which have links to travel or to a previously confirmed case that has travelled to Brazil.
VARIANT CONCERNS
Prof Lawrence Young, Professor of Molecular Oncology, Warwick Medical School, said: “It is no surprise that additional cases of infection with the Brazilian P.1 variant have been identified – particularly as a consequence of household transmission from two previously reported cases.
"Aside from this virus being more contagious, it is also likely to be partially resistant to current vaccines and may also be able to re-infect individuals who were previously infected with a different variant.
"That’s why it’s even more important to do everything to stop the spread of this variant (and all others) by ensuring strict border control measures and efficient surge testing to trace and isolate infected individuals and their contacts.”
Other variants of concern present in the UK include the Kent variant and those from South Africa and Brazil.
The Kent Covid variant is up to twice as deadly compared with the original strain, scientists have warned.
The strain is the most dominant in Britain and has reached all corners of the globe.

The Brazilian variant has been shown to be more deadly in the city of Manaus, where it was first detected.
The Government hasn't specified what the symptoms of the new strain from Brazil are.
However, experts have said it is characteristically similar to the other Covid mutations from the UK and South Africa.
Similarly, research from South Africa has given a hint that the strain that emerged there kills more patients.

I read it. Doesn't speak to the issue whatsoever. It's a different, longer term discussion completely, that again requires the individual to manage their own health, and health care, responsibly.flymore wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 6:00 pmRead the original post. As for a pandemic:
How do you train more doctors in a matter of months, even if you secure space?
Who makes the triage decisions, who lives and who dies, if there aren't controls in place?
I have friends in health care.
Do they ignore the heart attack and intubate the urgent Covid case? Or vis versa?
They can't work 24 / 7 either.
If people would make responsible decisions, some measures wouldn't be necessary, but in a pandemic one persons irresponsible behaviour penalizes innocent people with completely different health emergencies.
I wrote a mental health thread. I'm very sympathetic to the severe effects this has had on so many, in so many ways.

Re: Save Our Country & Our Industry
I'll consider Joffe's article when it's peer reviewed and published in a reputable journal.
Re: Save Our Country & Our Industry
If it’s about healthcare, let’s name anything Doug ford has done to better prepare our healthcare system. I understand you can’t make a doctor overnight, but what has he done, if anything, to better prepare our hospitals for a pandemic. We are a year into this, surely you have something after an entire year... in 5 years will we be be more ready? Can we make more doctors by then? Has anything even been started to make sure we don’t need lockdowns next time around? Did he build any infrastructure? Hire more staff?rookiepilot wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 6:11 pmI read it. Doesn't speak to the issue whatsoever. It's a different, longer term discussion completely, that again requires the individual to manage their own health, and health care, responsibly.flymore wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 6:00 pmRead the original post. Never stated otherwise. Sure, lockdowns saves lives. How many does they destroy? Where's the cost-benefit analysis (http://alturl.com/ipbc3)?Ruddervator wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 3:18 pm Reuters: Studies show COVID-19 lockdowns have saved lives
It's never about just one thing. That's why I'd recommend reading the attached article, or at least the following sections: Hospital Overcapacity, Vitamin D and Better COVID Treatments. Locking down may give the COVID cases some beds, but ends up destroying the lives of many others.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:20 pm This keeps coming up, but this is all about the health care system. Nothing more, nothing less. It has a certain capacity which cannot magically be expanded. X number of doctors, nurses, etc. .
All I can see is complete incompetence... he spends his time writing his speech about “our darkest hours” ummm nah it’s not a dark hour you dumb shit go make sure our healthcare system can handle a few covid patients along with the rest of our needs. The only thing dark is his incompetence. He has spent all of his time coasting as if covid will go away in its own in 2 months if we wear masks so we don’t really have to do anything at all... time keeps passing and it’s still the same act of just keep locking down and in two months it’s over folks.
Re: Save Our Country & Our Industry
The garbage media is still putting out stories like this one. I’m not sure if this is the 3rd or 4th wave. I’ve tuned it all out.
Pure fear mongering nonsense. Meanwhile they had a nice video on the evening news of hospital staff doing a happy dance in the hospitals that are supposed to be overflowing with bodies by now.

“COVID-19 cases are back on the rise in most areas of Ontario and the province could see nearly 6,000 cases per day by April even outside of a so-called “worst case scenario,” a model released Thursday suggests.
The Ontario COVID-19 Science Table says that outside of the vaccination of all willing residents and staff in long-term care homes, “progress has stalled” in combatting the pandemic in the province.
As of March 6, cases were increasing markedly in all but 13 of the province’s 34 local public health units.”

Why would they be overflowing? Peak hospitalizations in ON were 1700, now down to 690.
Presumably that is the concern. As of March 6, cases were increasing markedly in all but 13 of the province’s 34 local public health units.”
Garbage avcanada more like.

Gee, maybe the health care workers are just happy they aren't seeing as many deaths. Let em' dance.
Re: Save Our Country & Our Industry
They aren’t overflowing. That’s the whole point. They never were. It’s all hype. Look south of the border. Things are getting back to normal. Check out flight radar. The US airspace is full of planes. Here? Hardly a plane in the skies.

Exactly.
Because the situation has dozens of tentacles, it requires a level of consideration and intelligence that the average citizen simply does not possess. This is a sub-crisis within the main crisis. That sad fact about the COVIDhoax is that it is very easy to psychologically beat the general public into compliance. When you live such a soft, decadent lifestyle, your brain goes to mush when it is challenged. It's much easier for 97-IQ set to play "get-along-gang," preach that "we're all in this together," and proselytize their bastardized interpretations of medical science (sCiEnCe!).
The government will stop giving you money. It's just a matter of time. I think a little bit of starving will have to happen for learning to occur.

I don’t know Rockie, maybe you should ask that exact same question to the 3 stooges:
Justin Trudeau
Theresa Tam
Doug Ford
Listening to Tam ramble on about modelling predictions makes me want to throw up in my mouth. #1 turned out to be an over the top exaggeration, #2 much of the same thing, and #3 will be the same. It’s like a modern day version of the fairytale “the boy who cried wolf.” Except this time there is no wolf.
Re: Save Our Country & Our Industry
What sector aid are you talking about? The airlines are being bailed out. Yay.
Thanks for the stupid post, these are quite entertaining.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the dumb Barrington b.s.

Ya I’m not reading all of that, I think I even saw graphs n’ sh1t in there lol
Re: Save Our Country & Our Industry
How many more people would have died if people went skiing this winter Rockie? How many more would have died if schools were open? How many more people would have died if Doug Ford left March break in March?Rockie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 4:14 am2.7 million people are dead.piperdriver wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:08 pm It’s like a modern day version of the fairytale “the boy who cried wolf.” Except this time there is no wolf.
2.7 million people who were going to die, died. Now we have a national day or remembering these people as if it's the same as remembering those who went to war. Our darkest days... Yeah mhmmm. I think I'm going to use this day to remember everyone who was forgotten during covid, which is the rest of us.

Brazil’s third wave with the variants has begun , Hospitals in that country resemble war zones according to the American reports on CBS.
The Brazilian variant is just slightly more lethal . Not as bad as the Variants in the Spanish flu .
I do hope that they do not let the opportunity to kill this pandemic with the vaccines slips away .
They should be ramping up vaccine production in every laboratory across the globe while there is time .
We might not be so lucky with the next mutations and variants .
