Air Tindi - Ground to Flight
Hey all,
Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. Just wanted to get some general info about the "ground to flight" program at Air Tindi. From my understanding, the main advantage to this company over most others is that you get to fly within a reasonable amount of time (6 months max from what I've heard). Is this an accurate representation even with the pandemic? Here are some general question which I hope that a current employee/recent employee may be able to answer:
1. Is there any training bond for the king air/twin otter
2. What is the schedule like (I understand 1 week flying and 2 weeks doing ramp, dispatch or loadmaster/flight attendant)
3. What is the general atmosphere of the company?
4. How many hours of flying can you expect per month on the king air or the twin otter while still being a "part time" pilot
5. What is it like living in YK (I'm from Ontario)?
Thanks everyone and look forward to hearing your responses!

Re: Air Tindi - Ground to Flight
First YK is a great place to live. Going there if you are trying to have a relationship is pretty good.
Being a wantabe at Tindi has been hit and miss and is totally driven by how busy they are. It's a good place to get your foot in the door, especially now, but don't be in a hurry to get into that seat.
I think there is a bond but that might of changed since I was there. Unfortunately as a "pilot in waiting" you don't have the ability to negotiate. I did work there without signing the bond but at that time they wanted me more than I needed them.
I don't think they are doing much rotational stuff now. They tried it and it almost broke them.
It's not cheep to leave YK on your days off, I think Tindi might of had a "jump seat" agreement with AC but no interline stuff.
If you are a guy that is stuck in the southern ontario, golden horseshoe mind set YK might be a bit of a cultural shock but if you adjust it's a great place. The flying is pretty good too.
Just be willing to wait and you will launch your career.
