patching deice boots
Hey,
There was questions raised as to the maximum amount of patches a deice boot can have on it. I've been told by the DOM at my last company that you can have as many as you want as long as the patches don't overlap. Can anyone confim or deny this?
thanks.

De-ice Patches
That is incorrect. One should refer to the MM. I believe on the Dash-8,s the figure was 6 on any one boot. Do not know about other a/c
Goodrich has a Pneumatic de-icer installation, maintenance and repair manual (ATA30-10-31)
It lists Goodrich's limits as far as patches go. Here is just a quick look. They are based on a 12" square:
'the following patch limits are recommended'
3 small patches per square (2-1/2 X 1-1/4) or
2 medium patches (5" X 2-/12) or
1 large patch (5" X 10") or
2 small patches and 1 medium patch per square
It is recommended that no more that 20 pinhole repairs (less than 1/16" in diameter repaired with pinhole kit) per 12" square.
I think you can download this manual at Goodrich's site.

should be the link to the booklet I hope. If not it is on goodrich's site.

De-ice boot patches
If my memory serves me correctly, in the MM for the B1900, the limits stated could be interpreted to mean that one could virtually cover the whole length of the boot with the smallest height patches.
