Experience with Porter's Early Connections Program?

Post by PylotWolf »

Hello, I am a 400+ hour pilot currently working as an Instructor. I was exploring job options the other day and stumbled upon this program of Porter's. Does anyone who has experience with it care to tell me what it was like, what to expect, pros and cons?

Thanks in advance!

Porter? Didn’t that used to be an airline, that flew out of Toronto Island, or somewhere?

I wouldn't place my bets on any of those cadet programs. It's only a bonus and not a gurantee.

Destination Porter helped me get connected and eventually hired at Porter. I got accepted into the program after graduating Confed. Once you're in the program you get paired up with a current Porter mentor who can be used as an industry connection, they'll check in now and again to see how your time building is going and answer any questions you have. When you're feeling ready/reach certain TT you can interview/sim-eval for eventual onboarding.

It is a great program with no real commitment (obviously they hope you choose Porter but there's no obligation). My mentor ended up becoming a close friend and helped me succeed in transitioning from 702 to 705.

edit: Cons? I guess the only con is the current state of uncertainty surrounding Porter's operation. Who know's when the program will get spun back up.

Do you mind me asking what kind of questions they asked in the interview?

For the program, I can't really remember. There were practice questions and then the online program gave you 2 questions to record answers for.
