Sonic Blue (Regency Strike)
Just heard through the grapevine that the boyz at Regency may be striking if they don't get the same pay as what the guys from Nav got for the same runs. Just curious if anyone has info on this.

The caravan is the wrong machine for that part of the world, with a marginal operator, on bag runs, in winter, in mountains. To operate a caravan safely in the rocks, you gotta have management that takes no for an answer and then stands up to the customer on flight safety related decisions (mostly weather), full support of maintenance (icex treatments), an understanding customer (cargo companies? usually not!), and experienced pilots.
I worked for an operator in Ontario, now bankrupt, that did night cargo in the van and were it not for a great boss and the fact that we icex'd the boots every second day...well, lets just say history has a tendancy of repeating itself. Ignore the past at your own peril.

Anyone know what the BN2 service ceiling is? SE service ceiling?
Dont have the exact figures in front of me. But the spare engine just takes you to the scene of the accident a little quicker.
Off the top of my head its somewhere around 5000' Good luck with that if your at gross with engines that dont deliver all there pony's.

strike 3
where to begin on this thread well
try this negoiation
owner to pilots :you want me to pay you to fly my aircraft?
pilots to owner: well actually we were just want to work for free here.
however there is one small request that you stop charging us for the
10k to fly the van and course free coffee.
owner to pilots: never been so insulted in my life..
pilots bargining hard: well can we have the free coffee
owner: nothing more?
pilots : Nothing more and will sign for 2 yrs.
owner: let me think about that over night
next day:
owner : coffee but not free half price 50.cents a cup 1.50 travel mug.
pilots: 1.00 for the travel mug coffee and its a deal
owner: done. !!
owner: well now that is done my benz is in the shop. and got to go pick it up boys.
pilots: good oh could we get a ride to the bus depot so that we can
go fly.
owner: sure -the price of gas has gone up least i can do....
pilots: this bargining is easier than I thought eh

Those scabber pilots, are the one's ruining the industry. How about publish the names of all the scabbers who purchased a PPC. Or is taking the easy road out the way of the future. Sound's to me like the owner is doing all these lazy, useless pilot's a favour, alowing them to fly.
Working for them is way into biz.... They all seem to move on, taking jobs away from hard working honest people. A snake is always a snake. The industry does not need the pollution of pilots this company is turning out.... Drown them now... end the madness.....it's time for a line in the sand. Make a stand. Down with scab's

I am curious as to how many people on this fourm actually have flying positions, how many are copilots on a pa31?
i personally think you should post every sonic blue pilots name, and while you are at it, why dont you post every nav air pilots name, and every skyward pilots name. They are all the same shit, just guys trying to get ahead. You bunch of whiny bastards.
if Ranj is screwing ya over, then dont do it! stand up for yourselves

I'd suggest bringing in a union before any striking happens lol. Otherwise its not really a strike its more of a "lets stand out on the sidewalk and watch all the NEW pilots go flying in our planes" party.
But seriously, SB guys need to do something. I've had a couple friends that worked there and the tales they tell are troubling. I do currently have a flying position (and a very nice one at that) and have been a co-jo on a Ho. I paid not a cent for either position or any in between. Show a little hard work and put some effort and pride into what you do and jobs will come.

Some people are like slinkies: Not much good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

well Bruno this seems to have lit a fire under your ass, seeing as you just joined today and must take some offence of this post. So can you tell us it true. And are you one of these Pa31 Fo's. Just curious.
Shit or get off the pot!

What U all seem to be ignoring here is that there will ALWAYS be another guy coming out of flying-school, willing to do anything for that 'first' job!
So as long as there is an over-supply of young, eager, 200h pilots, there will always be airlines that 'use' and 'abuse' them.
We all know damn-well that the rule-of-thumb when you are on your 'road trip' is to never turn-down a job offer! So, what's the difference in this thread? Young, low-timers are being offered their first jobs...with strings attached.
Are you all so far down the line now that you have forgotten what it was like to have 200h and "no experience"???
Lets not be narrow-minded and beat-up the pilots here, lets look at the bigger picture.
The issue is over supply! All you need to become a Commercial Pilot is $20,000 and 60% on your written exam! 60 fawkin percent!!!! (The ATPL is not much better!!).
In the open-market, basic economics shows that high supply combined with low demand causes prices to fall.
SCARY PARALLEL TO AVIATION IN CANADA!!

First Post.
I currently fly as a First Officer on Jazz. I bought a PPC about 4 1/2 years ago and got my first 1000 hours. Pay was bad but I built my time and got a good job after a two years. I did not work on a ramp.
Both are vaild options and I suggest ramp if you found a company you want to spend about 5 years flying for at least. No one blacklists pilots with PPC's, it just hard in general to find a job for any 200 pilot.
Best of luck, treat all pilots with respect and you will be rewarded.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.
