Mainline hiring anyone with no post secondary education?
Looking at Air Canada hiring requirements it says that having post secondary education is not required but is an asset. Does anyone know if many people are getting hired without any post secondary education or is it very difficult to get your foot in the door with no education?

The way in without post-secondary would be through Jazz. Maybe also the military but I don’t know all the ins-and-outs of their hiring score system.

If you're a pilot in the military (officer) you have post secondary.
Jazz flow could be one option, I don't know if that will be a long term continued deal in the new post-covid reality.
Just being a strong candidate in every other metric if you're OTS is the other option. Lots of time, large aircraft PIC, background of leadership/training/management, other relevant airline experience, strong internal references, etc.
A lot of our will come down to what the pool of applicants has when you apply/interview. How many points do you have relative those around you when the hiring starts again.

A lot of people feel pilots have outdated views and the industry is like an old boys club. I guess few feel a need to change that image...

Oh, and don't forget:
"Additionally, as of today, any person wishing to join Air Canada as a new employee must be fully vaccinated as of October 31st to be eligible for employment with us. "

You mean I finally have a shot?... meh, I'll pass.

I personally know many who were hired at AC without any post secondary diplomas or degrees, even some who did their flight training at small flying clubs. I even know of a couple pilots with pretty impressive post secondary education in unrelated fields that have been PFO’d. While they probably use it as bonus points when considering a candidate, among many other things it’s not a deal break as it once was.

Plus a degree. Cause that’s essential for life on this planet.
