Federal Employees

Post by Loon-A-Tic »

So what constitutes a federal employee for the propose of complying with the vaccination policy applicable to ALL federal employees and federally regulated industries. My assumption is anyone in the employ of the federal government and thereby paid thru federally collected taxes. Are politician not paid by monies collected thru federal taxes and therefore deemed to be federal employees.

So how does this square with the vaccination policy, will they "work from home" or sit in the House of Commons with their counterparts.

While MPs wouldn’t fall under these rules, departmental staff would, as would administration staff in the House, Senate, and Library of Parliament. The policy, which is set to take effect in October, would also apply to any commercial air, interprovincial train and cruise ship passengers.
MPs are not employees; they are representatives of their ridings.

Employees in federally regulated industries. See s. 91 of our constitution. Banks, railways, aviation, telecommunications, maritime, etc.

So, who here is willing to loose their job over the vaccine mandate next month? Maybe someone good at making polls could post one with that kinda question here and see what the response is. Seems 20% of Canadians haven't had their jab, I wonder what percentage of pilots will hold to their antivax values when their job is on the line. (I'm not trying to argue the right or wrong here, just wondering how many will actually go all the way.)

I bet the number of pilots without the vax is much higher than 20%.

It will be interesting to see. If enough pilots refuse the Gov't will be in a bind. I doubt that will be the case though, people are a lot of talk until their job is threatened. Thats why unions exist and there is no "anti-vax" union to unite behind.

Maybe stupidity like this?

"If you haven’t seen them, the updated projections put us somewhere between 200 - 5,000 cases/day by Nov. 1. The previous models released a month ago said we could be at more than 9,000 cases a day by mid-October, so I guess if we are going on fake models, that is an improvement"
