The first two entities are experts, you will note that commerce is governed by government who also has to act in order to save the lives of it’s citizens while balancing commerce.

opinions from rank and file everyday citizen “researchers” are interesting but not trustworthy unless you don’t trust Public health professionals.
When Doug Ford closed ski hills and golf courses what science did he use? No other government used this science that I'm aware of. Can anyone point me to the research on that one? Where did the experts see that exercise outdoors was a threat to public health? How many lives were saved by closing ski hills and golf courses? Please explain the science and facts to me, I need to learn how this works. Apparently I'm a dumb pilot and cant understand science at this high level. probably need to be a doctor to understand this top notch stuff!
It’s a moving target - did Public health officials steer him to conclude that was a good idea at he time ? perhaps

Virologists are the science > public health are the recommended policy makers > Governments are the rule makers. It’s a moving target, they will make mistakes, but their intentions are based on Public health. Jason Kenney is another good example of a failed policy, but he went the complete other way to the example you’ve given. Which is better ?

If you are a pilot, stay in your lane (as they say now) and trust public health officials (experts). Your arguments are weak and concentrate on silliness instead of public health officials guidance.
My argument is Pilots aren't challenging the good polices from the experts. They are challenging the ones that don't make sense, or are not inline with their values, how is that a weak argument? You are acting like these policies are mutually exclusive. I'm pretty sure I could tell closing ski and golf was a ridiculous anti science policy from day one. Why is it the dumb pilot knew this before DOFO and the virologists and doctors? Why is it you excuse them for something so outrageous that any dummy knew was completely dumb?

Not DOFO lol
We know who you're voting against. Who are you voting for?
I think I asked some much more intellectual thought provoking questions on the previous page, why don’t we focus on that rather than ask how someone is voting in an election that’s a year away.

We have been told pilots are to dumb to understand science. I just wanted to see the data and science on closing ski and golf. Is there any data anywhere to suggest lives were saved and it was good public health policy to close ski and golf? Anywhere? Anyone have an answer? Any data? Did it stop any covid spread? Com’on I’m just a dummy pilot, show me the data so I can understand. Peoples lives were turned upside down closing down their livelihoods. What for?
Why? It's not a hard question. If our provincial government is responsible for the policies you hate, who will repeal them?

All measures that limit gatherings help. Line ups at ski hills were considered a potential threat until they weren’t. Big deal. Move on to the real stuff.

How does that limit gatherings? If you don't go skiing do you simply not exist in the time frame that you would have gone skiing? Or do you think that you find a different activity to do in that time?

Can you show me what everyone who didn't go skiing, instead did a legal activity and show me how this had less covid spread. Or did your science show that people didn't golf, so they stayed home and bubble wrapped themselves in their beds and sealed their doors to stop spreading covid? Im no expert... but I will bet you some people took on more risky activity with more covid spread since blasting down a ski hill seems very low risk.

When cities closed beaches, did people stop going to the beach, or did they find the city with an open beach? Pretty sure the open beaches were more packed with people from further away last summer. Almost like some policy just made things worse. The more things you close the busier the open things became. Science.

Again... Can anyone show me how much covid spread was prevented by closing ski hills and how much did that improve public health? We deserve the answers to this. People literally lost their incomes and had their lives disrupted to save lives. Did we save any?

I was told Pilots are to dumb and don't understand the science. I am asking these questions to understand the science that I am to dumb to understand apparently. Why cant anyone defend these public health measures I brought up? Why cant anyone answer how many lives were saved? Would you be okay with closing golf and ski for another year in Ontario? Why or why not?

Are pilots to dumb, or are the ones saying "trust the experts" the dumb dumbs for not asking for the answers to the impact of these public health measures? I'm not complaining, I'm asking for the science so I can understand. Apparently a few people here accept these polices as acceptable measures. If that's you, please explain to me why you think its good policy? I'm not the expert or politician. I don't need to have the answers, I get to vote. If they cant answer my questions then they lost my vote. This would show me they used zero science and fucked up peoples lives for no reason. For that they should be held accountable. If you would vote for a politician who closed golf and ski hills to stop covid, a politician who's slogan is open for business, I would definitely question how you conclude this is the person you would have lead a province.

How should they be held accountable? What if no political party adequately answers your concerns? Will it be enough to just get rid of Doug Ford? What about your climate concerns? Will you hold your nose and vote for a left wing party just to oust Doug Ford? Or will you vote your conscience and vote independent or Libertarian?

Of course I "sound like a Karen", because you can't explain the science and justify your posts. Send insults instead. "End of story! look at me! I said its the end and I won that conversation!"

If you have any intellectual thoughts you could explain how the experts in virology who advise public health, who advise politicians, concluded ski hills and golf should close to save lives. Take a crack at it, many would like to understand the science.

Well, you seem to have all the answers. I, for one, am not calling you stupid. You have done your research, and made the same points on here. Over and over. Nearly every day.

So what comes next? What's your solution? Complain more, or do something? I'm the dumb one with the week old account, you're the expert. Tell us what to do.

What none of you seem to understand is it was made very clear when the ontario medical director came on without doug ford and announced the new restrictions and was asked “why were no politicians here” they responded with “because they don’t hve to be they don’t set the policy” doug ford or jason kenny or any of them set the policy it literally comes down from the covid council and head doctors and they’re told what to say. health policies are not legislative laws.

It’s a moving target. Ski hills in Europe were closed as well - I dont understand your mindset, when a pandemic exists (you believe its a pandemic right ?) public health officials get conservative until they dont get conservative. You are concentrating on one (two including golf) jurisdiction and one issued limited stoppage of activity. From the attached link.

“ Recreational skiing and all facilities involved, including departure stations with ski pass sale points, ski lifts, refuges and chalets, ski schools and rental shops, have been considered to be at high-risk of facilitating infection spread throughout the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Particularly as new viral variants with greater transmission potential are starting to emerge and circulate.“

Yeah I read that thanks, here is the only point that matters.

“There is currently no evidence to suggest an association between COVID-19 spread and recreational skiing.”

Ski hills were closed with zero evidence to support that it would slow the spread of covid. In other words there are people that accept arbitrary government rule as acceptable and others who don’t. Maybe Trudeau will stand up tomorrow and say all airlines must close for a year to stop delta. Will everyone here say “trust the experts” or when it’s your turn will you say show me the evidence.

I ask for the evidence, for everyone. We don’t need governments who arbitrarily choose winners and losers with no science based evidence. Funny how you say I don’t understand, yet the very link you post supports my point. I understand that your head must be in the sand ignoring science.

Pretty sure the issue here wasn't the skiing, but was the whole everyone is sweaty in their clothes, trying to use the bathroom, touching surfaces when going in the chalets / etc. That's a mess worse than a 5 year olds daycare and a covid melting pot.

You can't really open the ski hills without allowing people to use washrooms, spaces to change, etc.

So, just in case it is a bad judgment to take the vaccine, I will not take it.
Also, if I get vaccinated, I would have to fear the unvaccinated. I don't want the stress! ;-)

Correct me if I'm wrong. The unvaccinated must protect the vaccinated by getting vaccinated with the same vaccine that doesn't protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated until they are vaccinated against the unvaccinated.

Norway reclassified Covid as ordinary flu.

Brazil's president doesn't want to support vaccine passport/restrictions.

Sweden lifted restrictions
Ireland plans to lift restriction later this month.

You can add American, Alaska and JetBlue to United. So to answer your question (sort of) if you do business with the US federal government - you have to be vaxed.

Wrong again.

Okay, so this is the answer? How often should we get tested? Should we be forced to come in on our days off to get tested? How do we make this happen? You're the expert, tell us.

Did you want them to leave them open and some how contact trace all skiers for two weeks lol? Pretty much everything was shut down, a few times now to varying degrees (depending where you live). They basically measure the risk and trend of cases/severity against hospital capacities. As things trend downward more is shut down.

As some one with a golf membership I wasn't happy that I couldn't go play. If I were a selfish douche bag I would have made the argument that I can go play alone or with people in my bubble, it's outside, we can wear masks, they can keep the club house and facilities closed. Alternatively I accepted that it was completely reasonable for me to not to be out golfing, driving 80 km round trip, four or five times a week for something that is in no way essential. Mean while friends of mine working in hospitals are struggling to keep even an ounce of positivity as things continue to get worse. They're forced to treat people who couldn't be bothered to take even the slightest inconvenience (wearing a mask) and come to after days on a ventilator accusing their nurse of being a sheep for the global elites that are orchestrating this fake pandemic.

I truly do wish there was a very simple experiment we could try out for a few months. Let the unvaxed/antimask restaurateurs host unvaxed/unmasked diners. Let the unvaxed/antimask nurses and doctors (if you could find more than a handful) man a hospital for unvaxed/antimask patients. Unfortunately there would no doubt be major collateral damage to countless innocent people so it's probably not possible.

You keep wanting to see "the science". I've got a good friend out in Calgary and his wife is a PHD who was working on prostate cancer research specializing in a positive link found from exercising and trying to figure out which type of exercise is most effective to help recover. Going on 2+ years where her attention is instead needed trying to best figure out how to get morons to protect each other so we can beat this.

Here's some science. Absolutely black and white. Even us dummie pilots can understand it :)

Since the start of the vaccination campaign on December 14, 2020, PHAC received case-level vaccine history data for 82.8% (n=745,616) of COVID-19 cases aged 12 years or older.

Of these cases:

642,016 (86.1%) were unvaccinated at the time of their episode date
37,321 (5.0%) were not yet protected by the vaccine, as their episode date occurred less than 14 days after their first dose
41,562 (5.6%) were only partially vaccinated, as their episode date occurred either 14 days or more after their first dose or less than 14 days after their second dose
24,717 (3.3%) were fully vaccinated, as their episode date occurred 14 days or more after their second dose

Get to the real stuff already. Put your trust in public health officials and stop snapping at the stuff you dont understand.

I understand that your head must be in the sand ignoring science.

this is what i mean about understanding. You dont seem to understand the difference between the act of recreational skiing and covid spread (including the variants) and the closing of the facilities i quoted from the same report. It isn’t the sport, its the potential contact modelling. Give it a rest and get to the real stuff. The modelling is based on the science.

Which other countries require foreign crew doing their jobs to be vaccinated?
You can add American, Alaska and JetBlue to United. So to answer your question (sort of) if you do business with the US federal government - you have to be vaxed.

Wrong again.

US Feds offer weekly testing as an alternative under this program.

United has started terminations for the unvaxed. Delta has increased health insurance premiums for the unvaxed. There is a trend here.

Biden delivered stern words to America's unvaccinated adults.

"Many of us are frustrated with the nearly 80 million Americans who are still not vaccinated," he said, adding that "a distinct minority of Americans, supported by a distinct minority of elected officials, are keeping us from turning the corner."

About a quarter of U.S. adults have not gotten a vaccine dose, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"My message to unvaccinated Americans is this: What more is there to wait for? What more do you need to see? We've made vaccinations free, safe and convenient," Biden said. "We've been patient, but our patience is wearing thin. And your refusal has cost all of us. So please do the right thing."

Counterpoint,

You haven’t answered what activity people took part in, in lieu of skiing.why couldn’t ski hills stay open with similar health guidelines. If you need to use washroom wear a mask when you go inside.

200 people can pack in on an airplane and take mask off to eat but you can’t open a ski resort with a washroom and keep the risks low? Yeah okay.

These people who didn’t go skiing just found other activities to do. Net result of the closure is no known prevention of spread, and fucked over a small business owner for nothing. Completely dumb.

Some on here still think it was reasonable . The liberals are talking about taking private property away from people who don’t use it the way they say it needs to be used. This is to help the housing crisis. Maybe they will come take your property with no evidence, just watch the heavy hand of government. I will laugh at all you morons who passively sit there and rationalize arbitrary unscientific rules. Those who remain passive bystanders deserve what’s coming for them. Keep sitting there preaching “just listen to the experts because we are dumb pilots who don’t understand how closing ski hills and golf was totally effective”

Alberta covid is pretty bad no? So are they going to close ski hills this year? They should right because it’s good policy? Why would they not, Ontario did it and you all think it’s reasonable so why not close ski hills this year?

I agree, ski hills should stay open. How do we make sure they do?

Why? Don’t you care about saving lives? Don’t we need to listen to the experts? Or did the experts get it wrong? The news media makes it look like Alberta is worse off this winter than last. Maybe Ontario can open, but Alberta is shipping bodies all over because it’s out of control. Will closing ski hills help them?
