Re: K Max down
Very unfortunate. It was a new aircraft to the operator. Hope they can recover the person and machine.
How can you tell which one is the pilot when you walk into a bar?....Don't worry he will come up and tell you.

Re: K Max down
This a very unusual helicopter. The design goes back to Germany during WW2. There are 2 intermeshing rotors each on a separate rotor head. No tail rotor. I watched one for several days doing power line installations in Arizona a few years ago.

I’m sure there’s an obvious answer, but I can’t see it. How would you get a type rating in a single seat helicopter like a K-max?
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

Kaman, who also made the lesser known, but numerous "Husky" for the US military, maintains a civil one for pilot training. It's more or less the same type of helicopter, though two pilot, and a generous cabin. How would you get a type rating in a single seat helicopter like a K-max?

That is where I saw one too for the first time. Seemed so strange at the time.Antique Pilot wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 8:22 pm This a very unusual helicopter. A jump seat attached to either side for maintenance and training flights.
Just kidding, that didn't really pan out, nobody wanted to ride external.
Here is the most comprehensive article about training:
