I bet you love to call some people, "snowflakes", don't ya?
Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
Looks like Doug Gaunt posted the add. Wasn't he the KBA DOM for many years? I'd guess he has had positive experience with guys who have spent time up north.

That’s why few stay, and even fewer go in the first place.
Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
That seems to be an impossibility.‘Bob’ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 6:30 pmLots of things.Big Bird Anonymous wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 12:43 pm What the F is wrong with the North?

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

If you look at the population distribution of our country, it should make perfect sense.digits_ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 6:46 pmThat seems to be an impossibility.‘Bob’ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 6:30 pmLots of things.Big Bird Anonymous wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 12:43 pm What the F is wrong with the North?

Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
I suspect that what Digits was alluding to was that it's a practical impossibility for a few people (the "few stay" folks) to remain than the "even fewer" who went there in the first place.
Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
I took it to mean that few of those born there stay, and even fewer go there from elsewhere. I am not sure that is technically correct, but I understood the gist.

Semantics, I know...

That interpretation.......makes sense as well!

Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
Fact is-those keen and hardy enough to be called northerners are proud of that distinction and I guess the ad is just trying to cull the weak.

Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
There's nothing wrong with the north.
Doug Gaunt posted the ad. He has tons of experience in the north and far south. I would suspect, as someone else mentioned, that Doug likely appreciates the work ethic and experience working in the north can bring, and is looking for someone who might be looking for a change.
I worked with Doug many years ago, he's a good guy.

Those keen and hardy northeners sure seem to be easily triggered by a job ad though

Better question is, what isn’t wrong with the North?Big Bird Anonymous wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 12:43 pm What the F is wrong with the North?

Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
I don't mind the north. Made a pretty good career in the arctic and abouts but it didn't give me the lifestyle that I long for now. Also didn't pay enough.
Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
I worked with a lot of Northerners who after their Aviation job went TU stayed put and got into other trades. Some left for various reasons (mine was a Southern wife) and today have it pretty good. Mortgage free house, cabin on the lake or rural acreages and all the toys. Something not so easy to do working in the South on an AME wages.
Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
Depends where you feel comfortable. I liked my experience, but I was also happy to return down south at the end of the season. I don't hunt, and fish...

Re: "Escape From The North" job ad
I'm not sure what you want to hear. Some people love the north, the community feeling, the outdoors, thrive up there and have great careers. Others hate the cold, miss their family, miss the conveniences and put their time in then get out. This ad is chasing the latter group, and, so what?
