It is called a CCD. The three little buttons let you select either your PFD, MFD or EICAS displays. Once you have selected the desired display, you can select what information you want.
If you have an electrical problem, for instance. You can bring up a schematic of the electrical system in its current status.
You can select your wx radar, TCAS, and various other information sources. You can use it as an alternative method of tuning your radios as well.

This is true
The ramp guys don't like it because they have to bend over or stand on their knees when in the hold. It is very low in there to accomodate 6'7" headroom in the cabin.
Not to insult the rampies but I don't think their needs ranked very high on the list of design features.

WARNING This may or may not be true but I love a good rumor anyways.
Someone mentioned to me the E175s are burning a lot more fuel than advertised (23%more). This is 2nd hand info, can anyone confirm this? Also heard air quality is bad and that the air filters need to be changed every 50 hours. This person also told me the crews are feeling more fatigued after flying it all day due to the air problems. Can someone that actually flys it confirm or deny this? They also said E190s will be delayed, not sure but something to do with operating costs being high. I'm thinking it probably has more to do with training issues. (If true)
So can anyone bust these rumors?

I haven't heard or experienced any of those issues. If the vnav is not used properly, I can see a fuel burn increase happening but that is just bad airmanship.
I am showing 190's on my December schedule. YOW-FLL and YOW-MCO
Air quality is fine and all the passengers are very complimentary about the airplane as they disembark.
The only real issue that pisses me off about this aircraft is that you cannot leave it powered up and walk away. You want to go into the terminal to grab a bite, you have to do a termination. Subsequently, it is always being " re booted ".
The APU does not have automatic fire protection on the ground and if the GPU is being used, then the Batts must be on which exposes them to the risk of discharge should the GPU go offline. For the life of me, I can't understand why they designed it this way. If you put the airplane on ground services, the flight deck still goes dark, you can't even keep essentials powered up.
