Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Any chance of new hire classes this year?
Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Very good probability of one later this year.
Timeline to bring all recalls back by summer 2022 is still being pursued.
Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Bidding opened yesterday for the third round of recalls. 138 spots over 8 weeks in March and April. There was an extra 44 recalled in the second round, so this leaves just under 140 to go. All types available this round except 320 and 67.

How many of those 140 have deferred their recall? Hearing some early rumblings about a PIT course in May or June.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
We won't know until after the results are released in mid-February. That said, I highly doubt there'll be a PIT as a result of any bypassing. If everyone decides to defer, the company will likely force people back in reverse seniority until everyone is back (unless they have an LOA). Only then will hiring restart. As rudder indicated in the Jazz thread, hiring commencing in the fall seems likely.TrustinThrust wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 2:46 pm How many of those 140 have deferred their recall? Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
The rate of recalls is limited by training capability. Once all the laid off pilots have been offered positions, the pilots who were offered employment but had their PIT class cancelled will be offered positions. The crystal ball is cloudy but that will probably be all the hiring that can be accomplished in 2022. After that it will depend on how the travel economy shapes up.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
The last bid released in November which usually has a 12 month outlook had 118 new hires positions included. So call it 118 new hires before say the end of 2022, which would have given a 13 month outlook to last cmsc bid and not 12. 118 nee hires could be worth 4-5 courses....

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Where are you getting that from? Bid 21-03 didn’t even show all of the furloughed pilots back on property yet, never mind new hires.JoeyBarton wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 5:44 am The last bid released in November which usually has a 12 month outlook had 118 new hires positions included. Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
102 recalls were made round #1. These names were already on 21-03. CRB mentionned 616 vacancies on top of that.
600 pilots furloughed, 102 recalled prior to 21-03. Leaving 498 furloughed as of Nov 2021.
616-498= 118 new hires.

To compliment the above posts
Will try to add a few more slots if possible above and beyond the 138 recalls sent out this round (fingers crossed)
Courses running from mid March to early May this round.
Various positions across 777, 787, 330, 737, 319 and 220 available. All YYZ & YUL based.
No new hire PIT course planned for May or June that I know off.
Edit: those that were offered PIT courses pre-pandemic in 2020 should also be getting some communication from the company.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
VPS 3 emails went out today. There were enough bypasses that it went all the way to the BOTL with even some remaining vacancies (4 YYZ Rouge 319 and 1 YYZ 330 FO).
Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Would there be a VPS 4.0 or will AC be assigning training courses in reverse order of seniority?
If the latter is the case, what’s the process involved?

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Any confirmation of the number of ppl who’ve bypassed? Doing rough math using the recall numbers and the furlough list, I’m getting something around 180 (+/-) bypassed.
Does this seem about right?

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
They recalled 42 more pilots in VPS 2 than they originally planned. So that would leave about 140 after VPS 3. But it's possible they recalled more than originally planned this round as well, so it's probably less than 140 deferrals.

Who wants to bet the last round of recalls are delayed after WWIII?

I doubt it. I think everyone will be back on the list on 22-01.alkaseltzer wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:09 am Who wants to bet the last round of recalls are delayed after WWIII?

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
There's around 130 pilots still on furlough, so this bid suggests the planned hiring of a significant number of pilots in the next 12 month period.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
AC ran bids showing 1000-1500 vacancies for years and years prior to covid and never intended to staff them all. I’d be more surprised if they did plan to hire the -300 this bid shows than if they just ran with the deficit.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
We never had any CMSC bid showing 1000 vacancies or more.Sharklasers wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:05 pm AC ran bids showing 1000-1500 vacancies for years and years prior to covid and never intended to staff them all. Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
We had vacancies in every bid, but that is because they kept adding more positions. While there were those vacancies the company was hiring 40 a month. There wasn’t a time I recall where there was a large number of vacancies and no hiring.Sharklasers wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:05 pm AC ran bids showing 1000-1500 vacancies for years and years prior to covid and never intended to staff them all. At what point are the deferred recalls obligated to return? Or are they on LOA?
