Ottawa police chief expressed the same sentiment on camera. I'm sure they didn't anticipate what happened with GFM but I'm sure they made sure it would not happen again. They have lawyers, accounting, doctors, ex military, ex police officers, etc. All working within an organized logistical network. It's not just a bunch of truckers. Do you really think using these trucks in the first place was not premeditated? Do you think the bridge at Windsor was a decision made the day of?
The U.S. has expressed concern now and that concern will soon turn to frustration, then anger and loss of patience. Trudeau better get his shit together.

Jagmyet’s first tweet about this movement blew up in his face, and he made himself look like a lunatic. Slap in the face to the entire labour movement (his base).Just another canuck wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 8:04 pm https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/ ... b4e74/amp/
Interesting. Whether or not the NDP will support this I'm not sure but my guess is yes. Singh has already agreed the mandates need to come to an end. Looks like the Liberals are on the run.
He’s a politician. He’ll flow with the moving tide. As soon as he sees an opportunity to look like a hero, he’ll be in there like a dirty shirt.
Re: Truckers convoy
There's the words right out of the mouth of one of the main "organizers" of this so-called "movement". Remember, we've heard on this forum that this is a peaceful protest with no seditious or treasonous intent whatsoever. Except leading individuals are calling, not only for the overthrow of all Provincial governments as well as the Federal government, but also the dissolution of political parties they do not agree with - in addition to seemingly advocating violence to see their vision become a reality.Washington Post wrote:Pat King, a far-right figure listed as a regional organizer for the convoy, has said the only way to end restrictions “is with bullets.” In a video streamed online, he agreed with a passenger who said “it’s going until the mandates are gone and the premiers are gone and the prime minister is gone.”
“And the dissolving of the Liberal Party,” King added.

Yeah... and you wonder why the intelligence community (including counterterrorism investigators) and those with any level of intelligence, are taking a very close look at this "movement" and the people involved - because it's going to be the blueprint for future unrest.
Go home, because now your absolutely pointless blockades are causing real economic harm to average working Canadians; you remember, the people you claim to be representing. If you think those autoworkers whom are going to be looking at pink slips pretty soon if this continues, are going to be standing arm and arm at the crossings; you've got another thing coming.

CANADIAN TRUCKER PROTEST SHOWS GROWTH OF ANTI-GOVERNMENT EXTREMISM
Bottom Line Up Front:
- Anti-lockdown and anti-vaccine mandate protests in Canada entered a second week, with Ottawa’s mayor declaring a state of emergency, saying his city was under “siege” from thousands of truckers and other protesters.
- As is often the case, the protests have grown beyond their original intent and now include a broad panoply of grievances, many of which are related to anti-government extremism.
- To date, the police have reported more than 60 active criminal investigations associated with the protests, for offenses including theft, mischief, property damage, and hate crimes.
As the anti-lockdown and anti-vaccine mandate protests in Canada enter a second week, Ottawa’s Mayor Jim Watson declared a state of emergency, saying his city was under “siege” from thousands of truckers and other anti-government protesters. The mayor warned that unless law and order was restored immediately, “someone is going to get killed or seriously injured because of the irresponsible behavior” of some of the protesters. Reports of urinating on war memorials, dancing on the tomb of Canada’s unknown soldier, openly displaying Nazi paraphernalia, and other lewd and criminal behavior have flooded in as the protests drag on. Workers at a homeless shelter were accosted as protesters demanded free meals, even allegedly shouting a racial slur at a security guard. Residents have reported hundreds of cases of harassment from protesters for something as simple as wearing a mask, in addition to noise from truck horns and noxious fumes from the trucks themselves. Truckers have parked their vehicles to block intersections, left engines idling, and generally refused to comply with lawful orders from the police. Some Canadian politicians have labeled the protests “an occupation.”
- Canadian protesters have emulated narratives related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol Insurrection in the U.S., while far-right elements in the U.S. have in turn coopted the rhetoric of the protests in Canada, especially on social media.
Protests took place across Canada, including in Toronto and Quebec City. Truck convoys deliberately targeted provincial legislatures in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, where large gatherings of trucks blocked busy streets and snarled traffic for hours. As is often the case, the protests have grown beyond their original intent and now include a broad panoply of grievances, many of which are related to anti-government extremism. Many of the protests saw demonstrators waving American flags, indicating a sense of camaraderie with anti-lockdown and anti-mandate protesters in the United States. The protests have even been dubbed the “Freedom Convoy” by some truckers. And as terrorism finance expert Jessica Davis has pointed out, significant sums of funding have also emanated from Canada’s southern neighbor, indicated a shared sense of anti-government sentiment. Some estimates suggest that the protesters have raised more than $10 million through various platforms, including GoFundMe.
Stores and shops in impacted areas have been forced to close, adding insult to injury for those businesses that have already endured the blow dealt by the pandemic. It seems clear that some of the protesters plan to stay for a while, setting up fire pits and barbecue grills and contributing to a bizarre carnival-like atmosphere where banners are displayed denouncing Canadian politicians, the media, and calling for “Freedom over Fear,” all similar themes to anti-government protests in the United States. To date, the police have reported more than 60 active criminal investigations associated with the protests, for offenses including theft, mischief, property damage, and hate crimes. In Winnipeg, an individual was arrested after driving his car through a group of protesters, injuring four.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a frequent target of protesters’ animosity, has ruled out involving Canada’s military to deal with the protestors, whom he labeled a “fringe minority.” Former U.S. President Donald Trump called Trudeau a “far left lunatic,” releasing a statement on Friday in support of the protesters. Controversial podcaster Joe Rogan and Tesla founder and billionaire Elon Mush have also voiced support for the protests. Just as Canadian protesters have looked to emulate some of the narratives related to the January 6, 2021 Capitol Insurrection in the United States, labeling the Canadian government tyrannical, far-right elements in the U.S. have in turn coopted the protests in Canada, amplifying their messages on social media and outlets such as Fox News. As anticipated in The Soufan Center’s recent report, the events of January 6, 2021 will continue to serve as inspiration for far-right violent extremists across North America, Europe, and globally, with likely ongoing ideological, financial, and operational impacts in these transnational networks.

Re: Truckers convoy
Not even their own “parties” support their actions.
Interim CPC leader Candice Bergen is telling truckers to #gohome. Are we going to see PP be the third CPC leader in as many weeks due to the constant struggle between the demagoguery that expands a very narrow base so easily… and being taken seriously by anyone capable of a single rational thought?
The right is always going to be split until they finally dump their American style vitriol. They do that, and they have my vote.
Meanwhile.. Doug Ford’s government just ordered all Give Send Go and Adopt a Trucker funds to be seized. Ontario is not attending tri-partie talks and Mr Ford like Mr Trudeau is nowhere to be seen.
How can you bring down the Liberal government when the opposing party doesn’t even support you. Mandates are one thing. This is entirely different.

Obviously I should be.pelmet wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 4:11 pm No problem with protesters and freedom of speech but I have a major problem with people trying to jam up a city.
The convoy should be stopped outside Ottawa and they can leave their trucks parked at the side of the highway. School busses would be given permission to pick up the truckers to drop them off at parliament hill. All paid out of the go fund me account.
An emergency law allowing this action would be that for a time period, no trucks go into the city unless it can be proven that there is a business reason to be on the city.
That is what I would have attempted to do if I were mayor or premier. Maybe I should be.

As I've said before, I support the movement to end vaccine mandates to ensure that people don't lose their jobs over it.
(Basically the freedom to choose. I chose to be vaccinated because... thousands of medical professionals can't be wrong).
What I DO NOT support is:
- Breaking the law
- Blocking vital infrastructure
- Idiotic ideas about changing governments. (That's done through a thing called "voting")
While I understand their frustration and the "I got nothing left to lose" attitude, blocking the Ambassador Bridge is not the way to go. That's no longer a peaceful protest.

the other 20 percent take a hard stand on either side of the argument. Mandate vax and job loss for those who refuse. Or they just completely ignore the benefits of the safe vaccine and are true anti vax. I don't consider someone anti vax if they have a discussion with their doctor and decide the risks of the vaccine are not worth the benefits. That would apply to nearly every child under 12, and of course a small minority of adults who may have some risks to vaccination. Seems like the only true science followers are the 80 percent who are stuck in the middle

Just think of you last job where you did not trust management, where you were micromanaged. How did that work out for you? And then think of a job where the manager gave you room, accepted your feedback etc. Its not rocket science folks. This is probably all done on purpose to keep us distracted from what's going on behind the scenes. Divide and conquer!

Both parties need to reach a middle ground. "Absolute demands" (from either side) will never get anyone anywhere, but creates more division and disdain for each other. I don't have an answer on how that needs to be done. I'm not a politician or an economist. Voices have been heard, now it's time to give the government some room to make changes and do their work. Hopefully something positive comes of this...WellThatAgedWell wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 8:10 am

Re: Truckers convoy
A lot in the news about the amount of money that flows into Canada and the USA from Canada - and all by trucks.
I lived in southern Ontario(about an hour away from the bridge - been over it many times) for about 8 years and have lots of contacts out there still.
Funny thing about the plant workers of our great industrial complex that are so used to being laid off every now and then - that they don't really get too badly hurt if they are off for a few weeks. Get to sit back be with the kids and wife, have some popcorn and beer, and then they can enjoy some home life for a while. Auto workers are not at the bottom of the heap as far as wages go.
Now the rich elites - well that is another story - Ya know the ones that have the 3 and sometimes 4 figure pay scale.
They are now whining and bleating like the black sheep they are - and of course they are going to get air time because after all I AM LOSING MONEY.
There is a concept of NIMBY. - Not in my back yard means quite a few things but the one that applies is the concept that as long as it is in someone else's back yard then I don't have to worry about it.
Well to all you rich bastards out there that are "ONLY LOSING MONEY" get ready to suffer some more because this is not going to stop. - Call your MP because most of the working class no longer cares if you suffer a bit - in fact I do believe they are enjoying it!!
Stay safe out there

I stand corrected. Subtract 62 from 100. Is that number greater than 62? No? There you go.enbt wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 6:13 pmThere it is, I knew I had seen the 44% number somewhere.
https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/ ... er-protest
Leger surveyed 1,546 people between Feb. 4 and Feb. 6 and found that, while 62 per cent of all respondents strongly or somewhat oppose the anti-mandate message of the Freedom Convoy protest, 44 per cent of those who are fully vaccinated said they could sympathize with “the concerns and frustrations being voiced by people involved in the trucker protest in Ottawa.” One third (32 per cent) of Canadians support the message conveyed by the protesters, who are calling for no vaccine mandates and fewer public health measures, while seven per cent are undecided.

Oh here goes Doug Ford speaking right now. He is doubling down on how we had to do this. We had to lockdown, we have to wear masks.
Now he is going to shut down those who disagree
Open ontario, and everyone will go away you idiot. We don't want a reopen plan. Just get rid of the mandates, today. No more masks, no more business capacity limits, no more passports.
So main points.
He said his policies saved tens of thousands of lives. That was a lie.
He is also planning to make anti protest laws into permanent legislation.
Shit is getting real.

Enjoy.Ontario has declared a state of emergency in response to two weeks of protests against Covid-19 restrictions.
The order came as demonstrations continue to shut down parts of Ottawa and Windsor's Ambassador Bridge, a key entry point for US-Canada trade.
Blocking crucial infrastructure would be made "illegal" under the order, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said.
Protesters could face up to a year in jail and $100,000 in fines.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Mr Ford said the order will apply to anyone who impedes the movement of goods, people and services along international border crossings, airports, ports and major highways.
The province will also provide additional authority so that the personal and commercial licenses of protesters who do not comply may be cancelled.
"There will be consequences, and they will be severe," he said.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
