Re: DEC’s
For any Westjet FOs with 3+ years on property it's a paycut to take a left seat at Swoop. Now Swoop has to compete with Lynx/Flair for DECs though. Should be interesting.

That pool is definitely not nearly as deep as it was 12 months ago.Canadaflyer46 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 12:04 pm For any Westjet FOs with 3+ years on property it's a paycut to take a left seat at Swoop. Now Swoop has to compete with Lynx/Flair for DECs though. Should be interesting.

Re: DEC’s
Pay is a combination of hourly rate, plus ESP % and Stock Option Equivalency payout at WestJet. SWOOP does not have Stock Option Equivalency payout, less ESP matching and more days worked per month. WestJet minimum monthly guarantee is 77.5 hours pay, SWOOP is 75, ESP matched at WestJet is 20%, SWOOP is 10%, Stock Equivalency is $7,312. Therefore a 4th year F/O earns 77.5 x 95.97 x 12 = $89,252.10 plus 20% ESP = $107,102.52 + 7312 = $114,414.52 per year base salary. A first year SWOOP Captain earns 111.01 x 75 x 12 plus 10% = $109,899.90. Plus WestJet pilots have more vacation and better medical allowance. That is why they are not bidding it!
I hope it changes to one contract between both companies just like the seniority list. The spots will be filled immediately by experienced senior pilots!

Re: DEC’s
I was wondering the same thing, so thank you for breaking it down like that. I'd heard that year 3 was where WS FOs start making decent money. From the outside I'd way prefer to see Pink Westjet aeroplanes staffed by Westjet pilots, but I don't see it happening. I think unless your ALPA membership are willing to put a stop to it, we will see 30 Pink tails staffed by outsiders at cut rate wages within the next 2 years. Buying 6 brand new Max 8's for Swoop proves Onex is committed to expanding as much as they can, as quickly as they can.Ex DC10 Driver wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 2:55 pm Pay is a combination of hourly rate, plus ESP % and Stock Option Equivalency payout at WestJet.
