Tried to find the tail number but the only swiftair freighter 300 I could find was painted differently
Re: Buffalo Airways Boeing 737-300
I had wondered about ad-hoc passenger charter when I read this, but it appears to be setup as a freighter, probably a lot more efficient being twin engine rather than the expensive 4 engine Electra, they must be looking to break into some of the 737-200 market, lots of competition for that class. I also see they picked up a Beech 1900, according to the CCAR, looks like they are modernizing, still can't believe they don't have a Basler.

They do lease a Basler from Borek in the summer.Mick G wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 7:27 pm I had wondered about ad-hoc passenger charter when I read this, but it appears to be setup as a freighter, probably a lot more efficient being twin engine rather than the expensive 4 engine Electra, they must be looking to break into some of the 737-200 market, lots of competition for that class. It's a 300 so no gravel so competition with the 200 is limited. Pavement to pavement the -300 freighter would be much cheaper to operate freighter.Mick G wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 7:27 pm I had wondered about ad-hoc passenger charter when I read this, but it appears to be setup as a freighter, probably a lot more efficient being twin engine rather than the expensive 4 engine Electra, they must be looking to break into some of the 737-200 market, lots of competition for that class. Re: Buffalo Airways Boeing 737-300
I think they still do lots of passanger charter work, just no scheduled routes. Along with the King Air, they picked up a Twin Otter last year and just recently a Beech 1900. Must be for passenger charter work?

There are no gravel kit fitted 737-200's for sale and I believe it is now impossible to convert one as Boeing does not support the gravel kit anymore.

It is a converted passenger plane because you can see the cabin window plugs in the video
Re: Buffalo Airways Boeing 737-300
Looking at it's history, it has been stored for about 5 years.

Seeing how your post history indicates you live in Yellowknife and your name is presumptively Donald, this could be an extremely ironic thing for you to say... but I'm sure there's more than one Donald who has been involved in aviation for 25plus years who lives in Yellowknife... right?

They don't use the Electra for currier frieght. They drive an 18 wheeler to hay river from YEG everyday. The 737 is replacing the 18 wheeler. The speculating on avcanada is hilariousMick G wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 7:27 pm I had wondered about ad-hoc passenger charter when I read this, but it appears to be setup as a freighter, probably a lot more efficient being twin engine rather than the expensive 4 engine Electra, they must be looking to break into some of the 737-200 market, lots of competition for that class. You sure don't know what you are talking about! BFL has never had ANY passenger fatalities in all its history despite flying many WW2 Transport Aircraft. This can't be said about Air Canada, Canadian, CP air, PWA. BFL has had some incidents sure, but never any fatalities. Besides they fly passengers all the time in their King Airs, B1900, and DHC-6.
If you are going to knock a company at least make an effort to get your facts right!

Yeah guys, jeez, sure they wreck em but not as bad as they could. Educate yourselves.Therewewere wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 6:11 pm BFL has had some incidents sure, but never any fatalities.
Re: Buffalo Airways Boeing 737-300
HAHA, yeah comparing PWA, Canadian, and CP Air to a current King AIr or 1900 is going to change everyone's mind.Therewewere wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 6:11 pm Donald wrote: ↑26 Mar 2022, 10:03

Been awfully quiet...anyone seen or heard the aircraft doing work?

Really interest in facts? Here’s a few…..Therewewere wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 6:11 pm Donald wrote: ↑26 Mar 2022, 10:03

Canadian had ZERO passenger fatalities from its inception in 1987 to its merger into Air Canada in 2001.
CP Air also had ZERO passenger fatalities. Now …. if you want to go back to the Canadian Pacific days, 1966 was the last passenger fatality. (A DC-8 landing in HND).
Air Canada? Well, that’s a conundrum. They were recently named one of the 10 safest airlines on the earth. How? When they’ve had fatalities. It’s a factor of size. That last fatality was 1983. That’s almost 40 years of flying 600 flights a day, safely.
The bottom line is that the industry in general is very very safe. Far safer than the 60’s. No one says Buffalo isn’t safe. That’s a result of strict oversight and scrutiny and now adjusted regulations.
Let’s face it, the Yellowknife DC-3 crash during scheduled ops didn’t look good. Things like doing a weight and balance after takeoff and not being able to maintain altitude on one engine makes one scratch their head. With new regulations and more powerful aircraft, Buffalo is as safe as any.

They're still able to find people to work for them?
On another note: Why are we still taking about "gravel kits" in 2022? Every community in the North should have paved runways... especially if "jet service" is warranted.
