correct me if I am wrong, but I thought F.A. is unionized, or maybe pilots aren't?
So they should be no worries of guys laid off being jumped by the outsiders.
By the way, that 500hrs TT for S/O...is that realistic at all? HAs anyone got in there with only that much?! I can see them putting you on Kinairs, Dash-6 but B727/37??? I can only wish:)

They will be keeping XFA for a while yet....water wings wrote:how near? they are the only 2 727-100s left... 2 minus 2 is ...oh, none.yxy wrote:They are only retiring 2 727's in the very near future.........PXD and VFA I believe..

I can't see any lay-offs at First Air with contract pilots coming in. I think the only lay-offs will be F/E's because of the replacement of the 727. The S/O's will luckly get positions flying fairly soon as movement seems to be happening.
As for the none 727's flying like WaterWings stated. There are currently 4 727's flying at the moment, VFA, PXD, XFA and UFA (with YFA only needing a check and it can fly again). The plan is to park VFA and PXD once thier "C" checks come due and replace them with 737's. I'm not too sure of the math here but 4-2 = 2 in my books (there WILL be 2 727's and 2 737's soon).
As for longevity. First Air has been around for about 60 years. I think that is longevity. They don't seem to more fast but they've been around a long unlike some others.
Cheers

1st of all, AI, their are 2 727 100s left. It may not be my stong point, but my math calculations stand.
my abacus is in the right.

HHHMMM, you were sure making it sound like there would be NO 727's flying anymore. I was just pointing out that First Air has more than 727-100's flying.
Real nice WW, why would you say that about XFA? Kind of a rude comment to make. It seems to do fine for them. Sure is flying a lot and not just on the runs up north. Heard it flying all over the place, europe, caribbean, USA.......doesn't sound too bad in my books. It's also a special machine being the first and maybe the only 727-200Adv with a class C cargo up top. I'm sure you had fun flying on it.

The positions are advertised on the First Air website. Sounds pretty real to me.water wings wrote: hey,
