IATRA text?

Post by joycer_01 »

After doing a search on here, people seem to think the Aerocourse material works well. I checked out their website but says it's not available unless you do the course - so whats's a good substitute? Hold a AUS fATPL so was hoping to just self-study and not pay for a course.

Any suggestions are great.

Cheers

I ordered the IATRA and ATPL Aerocourse book online from VIP Pilot supply in St Hubert Quebec. Try them. They have a website that caters to mail orders and their shipping is very fast usually.

Another good book is "Canadian Professional Pilot Studies" by Phil Croucher. He is the same guy who wrote "CARs in Plain English". The CPPS covers most things you need to know for CPL, IATRA as well as ATPL. For all you rotary-wingers the book is also gear to you. There are some areas that need a bit more info, but I find it a good start. You can also get the aerocourse sample question guide from various on-line book stores such as ATP (aero-training products, VIP or aviation world), which is probably your best bet to get started. The atpl course just goes over most of the question in a group setting. If you work your way through the question guide you'll be more than prepared. If you live near YVR, I was at Aviall last week and they were giving away ASA ATPL Study Guides, there might be a few left there. Carefull though, it's an american book so there will be some differences.

If you use the ATP Aerocourse book for the IATRA, you will not have any problems whatsoever. WIth your experience, you should definetly self-study. I wrote the IATRA last February and used the Aerocourse ATP workbook and had no problems with it.
