IF you lost your medical...

Post by water wings »

If, and i mean IF the pilots on this forum lost their medicals or were removed from aviation in some form or another, what would you choose to do? for the purpose of this excercise, you have all the time in the world and will not go broke long the way...
concert violinist? geologist? Cirque du Soleil? would you fall back on the degree you thought you would actually use?
just curious, really.

I had to rely on a 9$/hr job to go and get a degree and start over!

I considered doing some fancy stuff, music or arts, but tried to stay realistic as I was just coming out of a miserable career. No need to commit suicide twice. I also considered and would still consider if I went broke tomorrow the Police force and Military. :D

Don't know how you could lose a medical and consider the military or the Police.... Most have a medical/fitness exam of their own. but po-po, sounds good.. =)

Go and give speeding tickets to all those with their medicals. =)

sure you can. Lots of flying restrictions do not apply to Police/Military stuff!

Start climbing the ranks to Ref pro hockey. I would get as far away from aviation as I could.

I had my medical yanked and I went into an aircraft maintenance course. I liked it alot more and even though I got my medical back, I'd rather be an AME. Flying isn't same since it was yanked and it will never be like it was before.

Depends on why I lost the medical. I'd go back to school, get filthy rich, and fly with someone else PIC for fun.

I would probably teach licensed pilots advanced flight skills, as long as they have a license I don't need one.

I would most likely become a chef. I already have a love for food and have been a cook before while in high school.

I would do the quality control in a first class whore house. Maybe hire Cat Driver as back-up and consultant.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Medical? You need a medical?

I'd get my hands on an old sailboat, fix it up, and live as a charter captain!

If I lost my medical, I guess I'd have to go back to being a porn star.

My previous career has come in very handy in aviation. For example, ask anyone at Transport about me, and they'll say, "That guy! What a huge dick!".

This is actually a very good subject. While most of you are in your 20's and 30's, you may not think that having a medical pulled will happen to YOU. But shit happens. And once it gets pulled, it's not an easy thing to get back. The hoops you must jump through are horrendous (sp?) And it is not always age related! So, give it some serious thought. I had mine pulled....it was only for a few days due to a wiring problem on an EKG..but, it made me think about avenues to take if this pilot gig went south?
