I was 17 and used to mix /load for the guy that came every year to spray our crops, one day he took me up and flew under power lines while he was touching the crop canopy with the wheels. It was a 182 with a belly tank (South America 23 years ago).
I'm 40 and have been spraying for a few years now ...
What made you fly?

My dad. Watching movies like The Dam Busters, 633 Squadron and The Battle of Britain. Family picnics at air shows. Standing on top of the "new" terminal at Malton. Wandering around the tarmac and hangars at Mount Hope, without any security restrictions. An Austin Airways employee letting me, a kid, look around inside their B-17, alone. Living under the Nordair flight path into Hamilton. My Grade 10 math teacher, Mr. Farley, who flew PBY's in the War and Ansons in the bush after, taking me flying in his amphib 180 after I waxed it. Going to NYC on a Viscount and England on a DC-8.Countless books and magazines...
I flew for 16 years before I lost my medical. God, I miss it every day, but I still consider myself fortunate because my dream came true. If you're a pilot (and I still consider myself one,) no matter how bad things are, you're still one of the luckiest SOB's on the planet.
