Inflation seems to harm so many around the globe. It almost seems like only a recession can tame inflation. Both seem to be bad. It almost seems like a “damned if you do and damned if you don’t” situation in terms of this inflation fighting policy.
While I have always thought along the lines of a recession being bad, I have been wondering something lately…….when all is taken into account from a global point of view, is there any possibility that a sharp recession could be the better long term scenario. Could the central banks be thinking this.
The canadian 50 cent piece (formerly the loonie) amp inflation since govt over spending (trudeau 1 and now 2) have combined to add 875BILLION to national net debt. N 15 million positive tax payers (people whose income is such that they actually dont get any deductions)
Productivity is in the toilet along with the dollar because the govt "progressive" tax structure dissincentivizes working harder above a certain income level . Cum bye ya /why take an extra shift to be taxed 50+% on it
I'm not sure how a recession aka 2 consecutive quarters of economic shrinking is good in a "growth at all cost" world economy.
Remember, western countries' governments depends on "growth at all costs" to hide their over-spending, fund their unfunded liabilities, hide the fact that their social security systems will be bankrupt in 5 years as the boomers retire, and send money to Ukraine to fund destruction of equipment in a pointless war, "give now, pay later" -style.
This strong recession will used to introduce CBDCs with limited spending dates ("you must spend all your paycheque by this date or lose it"), link to your medical and social records (as seen on Chinese TV, "buy a ticket to a city with planned protest and see your funds frozen and qr code pass turn red)), no privacy, and immediate bail-in and bail-out capabilities.
Once this comes, our last ability for regime change, violent revolution, will disappear because people will be 1 day away from an empty stomach and will thus be compliant to every edict. Look at how our supposed virtuous leaders in Ottawa quashed the peaceful truckers. And we're supposed to be the True North "Strong and Free".
Only way we get out of this before it happens involves unrest, violence, and pain. Most people are already a smaller-than-expected paycheque from financial ruin, so it's too late. Enjoy the ride. Put some money aside in cash and private cryptos, they'll be the "future cash" once paper cash transactions disappear. Weak men are creating the hard times. You ready?
DId you notice that 45 of them are pilots? There are a lot of doctors, nurses, law enforcement officers, IT professionals, college instructors, and yes, even tradespeople on there. Is your argument that the people on that list are leeches who are bleeding taxpayers, including the pilots, and that those pilots don't deserve to make over $100000? $100000 isn't very large for an experienced pilot's income.

No, I didn’t. I didn’t read it to break out every category. Did I specifically call out pilots?
How about JUST reading what I wrote and JUST responding accordingly?
Its amazing some posters actually are allowed control of an aircraft.
Hello?
I’d more like call out the Ont Pwr Generation exec’s making a million a year.
Because this is AvCanada, and 90% of the people here are pilots. You're pretty quick to jump on a list of "overpaid" civil servants because you think they all stand around water coolers from 10 am to 3 pm, when the reality is that thousands of people on that list earn their income by applying years of experience and working hard doing things like flying medivacs and police helicopters. How much do you think those pilots should be earning? How much do you think police officers and fire fighters should be earning? You didn't mention the "Ont Pwr Generation exec's making a million a year"; you only mentioned the sheer number of people on the list, and the vast majority of them earn their livings.
