Looking for an AME, part deaux..

Post by Pat Richard »

Here's a post from the new de Havilland looking, they say, for an AME.

Some bizarre expectations, and even though they wrote a partial essay for the ad, there's no mention of wages.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Technician assembles and/or fabricates parts and components using drawings, task cards, service bulletins and other approved data. S/he is accountable to the Production Manager for completing work assigned by the Lead Hand or Production Manager. The Technician will ensure that all work is done in accordance with the policies and procedures defined in Longview’s MPM.
• Complete all work as assigned by the Lead Hand / Production Manager and complete verification inspections, if trained, as directed by Lead Hand / Production Manager.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain integrity of all issued documents (workbooks, EM’s, etc.).
• Ensure shop area and tools are maintained in a clean and safe condition (5S). youre a janitor and GSE/tool crib dude
• Provide trade specific technical training to junior operators as directed by Lead Hand / Production Manager. , nope, instructor
• Provide regular build status updates and report all defects, deviations and work stoppages to Lead Hand / Production Manager. you're a junior lead hand/production manager
• Act as a Lead Hand delegate as requested. you're a back up lead hand
• Maintain efficiency of work no idea WTF this is
• Identify opportunities and recommend build improvements. youre a production analyst
• Report all errors in production documentation. youre a QA dept employee
• Participate in all opportunities to influence the culture. umm, youre expected to attend rallies and hand out literature???
• Monitor social media posts for appropriate content with respect to the company. I expect this means you peruse social media, on your own time, and report any precieved negativity towards the party. You know, like the STASI did in East Gremany
• Identify and offer recommendations for improvements in other departments. oh okay, so a general company analyst
• Encourage a positive attitude towards the company at all times. No matter how shite the company, be happy you are there
• Follow all defined rules, policies and procedures.
• Meet all commitments. If required, ask for a review of targets if a likelihood of missing targets is detected.crew lead
• Check your own work.and anybody else's, particularly greenhorns because you will be surrounded by them
• Take the initiative to lead others in an effort to best support the company’s overall targets. So crew lead
• Use all resources in an efficient manner.
• Encourage and promote both professional and personal growth.Tony Robbins???
• Work with your manager, coworkers and employees to understand “the big picture”. Make any necessary adjustments to best achieve your targets, including informing others of issues that might affect their targets.wasnt this mentioned already??? Stuck in the corn maze...
• Strive to continually improve.so more will be expected of you continously
• Be a team player by developing relationships with the coworkers. mandatory friendships with staff??
• Enforce compliance of all safety practices. Health and Safety enforcer
• Disassemble, inspect, record discrepancies, recommend and record methods of repairAME duties..finally
• Repair, fabricate parts and componentsso youre a walking part overhaul and manufacturing facility

At De Havilland Canada, we aim to be inclusive and diverse and provide equal opportunity for employment. All qualified applicants, regardless of gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation and disability, are encouraged to apply.

Obviously written by some twat who thinks they put their degree to maximum effect.

It goes to show how insane this industry and the world in general is if this is to be considered an effective promotional sales pitch to work at Longview.

If though, you find this interesting or appealing you are the problem. Im sure there's more than few of you out there, and honestly, yourselves and companies like this deserve each other.

FYI - longview scores a solid 1.8/5 on indeed for 2022

That has to be the most disastrous job ad I have ever seen. Tragically there will be someone that answers the call for anywhere’s between crappy and crappier wages. I would comment further but you said it all its just really, really bad….really.

You have wonder about the mentality at play.

There is a very known shortage of experience out there, probably the worst its ever been.
Your business is a revolving door, the rating and comments on the site you use to head hunt is abysmal, but yet you put out an ad worded with ludicrous demands and expectations.

So is it managerial arrogance, delusion. or just dont give a shit?

Im genuinly confused as to how anybody would expect it to generate massive recruitment. Its beyond clueless

I agree the add was written by someone with a degree and when hired probably didn't know a 215 from a submarine. And of course they would never ask a actual AME for advice on how to hire some experienced help. Pretty wild add for sure. But interesting that De Hav is locating to Calgary. I did hear rumors that Airdrie airport was being looked at.

"Maintain efficiency of work no idea WTF this is"

If you've ever been in the dehav plant in Toronto you'd know exactly what they mean. For the amount of standing around, chatting with pals, and general DF'ing they did, Bombardier could have produced D400's and Globals for 2/3 the cost. Hence why Bombardier started up production lines in Mexico to assemble the tail sections for the Globals and fuse sections for the 400s.
