C-FGZN, a privately registered Cessna 170A, was conducting a flight from Steinbach (CJB3) MB
to Winnipeg St. Andrews (CYAV) MB. When approximately 4 nm north of CYAV and on the
approach for Runway 18, the pilot noticed a rapid drop in oil pressure and followed by the complete
loss of engine power. The pilot notified CYAV tower and carried out a forced landing on Manitoba
Highway 230. There was no damage to the aircraft and there were no injuries. RCMP, first
responders, and EMS attended the scene.
The aircraft was subsequently moved to CYAV. A visual inspection of the engine found the engine
crank case was cracked near the number 6 cylinder. A detailed inspection revealed number 6
connecting rod had failed.

C-FQDW, a privately registered Piper PA-32-300 aircraft was enroute from Winnipeg/James
Armstrong Richardson Intl. (CYWG) MB to Regina Intl. (CYQR) SK with the pilot and 3 passengers
on board. While in cruise at approximately 4500 feet ASL, the engine (Lycoming IO-540) lost
complete power and the pilot conducted a forced landing on a grid road near Kipling (CKD5), SK.
During the landing roll, the pilot lost directional control and the aircraft veered off the right side of
the road, into a ditch. The aircraft came to a stop in an upright position and all occupants on board
were able to evacuate without injury. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.

C-FPOB, a privately registered Beech G33 aircraft, was enroute from Calgary Intl (CYYC), AB to
Regina Intl (CYQR), SK with the pilot and 1 passenger onboard. While in cruise at 9000 feet ASL,
the pilot heard a loud bang followed by a complete loss of engine (Teledyne Continental IO-470)
power. The pilot then conducted a forced landing on a grid road in the vicinity of Lancer, SK. There
were no injuries and the aircraft did not sustain any damage.

An inspection of the engine by the pilot revealed a large hole on the top center of the crankcase.
The pilot and passenger were then met by local farmers who informed the local authorities.

Via Google Translate.......

The Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche aircraft (registration C-FFOW, serial number 30-1737)
operated by the Rouyn-Noranda aviation school, was performing a local training flight according to the
visual flight rules from Rouyn-Noranda Airport (CYUY) (Quebec) with 1 instructor from
flight and 1 student pilot on board. While the aircraft was cruising, failure of engine number 1
has occurred. The pilots attempted to restart the engine without success. An emergency (PAN PAN)
was declared and a return to CYUY was initiated. Shortly after, a failure of engine number 2
has occurred. The pilot then attempted to make an emergency landing on Route 117, approximately
6 NM east of CYUY. On the ground, the aircraft struck an electric pole during the run to
landing. The aircraft sustained substantial damage but there was no fire. The
occupants received minor injuries.

N8902D, a Piper PA-22-160, was conducting a private flight from Tok Junction (PFTO), AK to
Whitehorse/Erik Nielsen Whitehorse Intl. (CYXY), YT with 1 pilot and 1 passenger on board. On
approach into CYXY the aircraft lost engine power (Lycoming O-320), and the pilot performed a
forced approach onto a road approximately 4 nm North of CYXY. The pilot and passenger were not
injured; the aircraft was substantially damaged. There were no injuries to personnel on the ground,
or damage to public property.
During the subsequent removal of the aircraft from the road, it was found that each wing fuel tank
contained 1 US gallon of fuel.

C-FGZU, a privately registered Cessna 182P, was conducting a night-VFR flight from Swift Current
(CYYN), SK with only the pilot onboard. During the flight, the aircraft lost electrical power and the
pilot was unable to activate the CYYN runway lighting system via the radio (ARCAL Type K) for
landing. The pilot then decided to land the aircraft on a lighted portion of Highway 1 near CYYN.
There were no injuries and no damage to the aircraft. RCMP officers responded to the site.

Didn't land on the riad but tried to takeoff from one after a forced landing......

From the TSB.....

C-GQPN, a Piper PA-28-140 registered to Winnipeg Aviation 2003 Ltd, was conducting a local
flight from Winnipeg/St. Andrews (CYAV), MB with only the pilot onboard. The pilot was practicing
forced approaches over a wheat field. During a practice forced approach, when power was applied
for the go-around at a low altitude, the engine hesitated. The pilot subsequently landed in the field
and attempted to takeoff but was unable to gain enough speed. The pilot then taxied from the field
to a gravel road and started a takeoff run. Upon getting airborne, the pilot observed a power line
crossing the road ahead of the aircraft. The pilot attempted to land on the gravel road but the
aircraft had drifted laterally and the aircraft landed in a ditch. The aircraft overturned and was
substantially damaged. The pilot received minor injuries. RCMP and ambulance responded to the
scene.

Note. they have had some bad luck as this happened one day later.....

C-FYAV, a Piper PA-28-161 registered to Winnipeg Aviation 2003 Ltd, was conducting a takeoff
from the grass Runway 27 at Gilbert Plains (CJH2), MB. During the takeoff as the nose wheel lifted
off the ground, the aircraft drifted to the left. The pilot pulled the throttle to idle to abort the takeoff
but the aircraft's left wing collided with 3 runway edge markers and exited the left side of the
runway. The aircraft came to a stop in a field. There were no injuries but the aircraft's was
substantially damaged. The ELT did not activate.

From TSB...

C-GHTP, a privately registered Cessna 177 aircraft, departed Weyburn (CJE3), SK for Yorkton
Municipal Airport (CYQV), SK. on a VFR flight with the pilot and 3 passengers. The pilot made
contact with FSS and planned to land on Runway 31 at CYQV. On final, the pilot made a left turn
to align with what was perceived as Runway 31 but was a road located southeast of CYQV. The
approach was high and required a steep descent with full flaps. When the aircraft was near the
perceived threshold, the pilot saw a metal post directly ahead and pulled up in an attempt to clear
the post; however, the aircraft struck the metal post on the right side of the fuselage. The stall
warning activated and the aircraft landed hard, bounced 3 times before control was regained and
the aircraft was brought to a stop on a road outside the CYQV airport environment. There were no
injuries to the pilot nor to the 3 passengers. RCMP attended the scene. The passengers were
transported by a private vehicle to CYQV. An inspection of the aircraft by the pilot found a scrape
on the right side underbelly and damage to the right landing gear strut fairing. RCMP stopped
traffic and the aircraft departed the road and landed safely at CYQV. The aircraft subsequently
departed CYQV with one passenger and landed safely at CJE3.

Was going to land on a road but it was too busy....

C-GFFZ, a Cessna 172P operated by the Brampton Flying Club, was on a local flight with an
instructor and two passengers on board. As the aircraft was returning to Brampton-Caledon Airport
(CNC3), ON, the engine experienced a complete loss of power (Lycoming O-320-D2J). The
instructor declared a MAYDAY and initially attempted a forced landing on a road. However, upon
noticing approaching traffic, the decision was made to divert to a nearby hayfield for a safer
landing. During the landing roll, the aircraft impacted a cluster of trees at the field boundary. All
three occupants successfully evacuated the aircraft, although both passengers sustained minor
injuries. The aircraft sustained substantial damage; notably, there was no fire despite some
compromise to the integrity of the fuel tanks. The Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) was
activated and subsequently deactivated by rescuers.

From TSB....

C-FFNQ, a Lake Amphibian LA-4, was conducting a recreational flight from High River Aerodrome
(CEN4), AB, to Penticton Airport (CYYF), BC, with 1 pilot on board. While in cruise at 8500 feet
above sea level (ASL), the engine (Textron Lycoming O-360-A1A) suddenly began vibrating and
then stopped producing power. The pilot setup for a forced landing on a straight piece of Highway
6, approximately 1 nautical mile west of Ymir, BC. The pilot completed a successful forced landing
with no injuries or damage to public property. Upon examination of the engine area, the pilot
observed catastrophic damage to the engine including a large hole in the top of the engine case.
The aircraft was pushed off the highway into a driveway until its recovery could be organized.
The following day, the aircraft was transported to Nelson, BC. The engine was removed and sent
for examination.
