Interesting one.......
C-FWGH, a Sunwing Airlines Inc. Boeing 737-800 was conducting flight SWG518 from Cancun
Intl. (MMUN), Mexico to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl. (CYUL), QC. During cruise
approximately 125NM SE of Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl. (CYYZ), ON, ATC advised flight crew
of a descending traffic 1000 feet above. Both aircraft reported each other in sight and flight crew
received a TCAS TA (traffic advisory) followed by TCAS RA (resolution advisory) to ''descend''.
Before disconnecting the autopilot, flight crew received a second TCAS RA to ''level off'' due to a
second traffic below. Flight crew monitored the TCAS with first traffic 900 feet above and second
traffic 1000 feet below and shortly received a ''clear of conflict'' message. Flight crew notified ATC
accordingly and continued to destination without further incident.

Seems like neither crew elected to go V/S mode 1000'/ min.

I’m always amazed at how many pilots don’t slow their climbs/descents down when approaching other planes altitudes.
