How long to hold a block?
Question was asked in the AC forum so I'm curious about WJ.

Captains are bit longer on reserve, think its 16 or so years for yyc? YVR cant be too far off that either, not entirely sure; too lazy to look that up.
One thing most don't realize is that WJ is going the Swoop way (good job boys) come February 1st. 18 days a month for those on full reserve blocks, seniority bidding for only those on reserve for ONLY days off and the ability of crew schedule to shift your reserve days into days off *cough* grey days *cough*
yes...this is for mainline.
We might actually get rid of LOU 2 (swoop portion of the contract) but it'll just be merged into the WJ one and we'll let them do it, again.
This is all from an MEC email dated back November 16th, 2022.
Hopefully this changes for those on it, but probably won't.
That being said, if you live in your respective base, it's not bad at all I hear with some positives. Commuters...good luck.

Re: How long to hold a block?
These are some really depressing numbers. Yikes.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: How long to hold a block?
Even worse is that middle management still thinks WJ is a great place to be, and we’re going to be hiring hundreds this year they say! They’re lucky that WJ is a good path to AC or else no one would be coming here, several have left during ground school lately. Sounds like Jazz guys are coming across again just like the old days. However this time it’ll only be for a year or two and they’ll be off to Big Red. We’re lucky that it’s free to train pilots here (direct quote from management).
