Re: Take home pay
Unfortunately you may need to wait a few weeks as the new CBA pay took effect on the 1st, but won't start being paid out till the 13th. After that really you need to give it another month because the 1st and 15th pay are different in that OT, and pre-diem are paid out on the 15th, and union dues, benefit deductions are on the 1st. When I started it was around 1900 ish on the 1st, and usually 2200 on the 15th take home if memory serves.
Re: Take home pay
You're going to get a wide range of take home pay. With or without a family medical dental plan. With or without your 3% company match. With or without RRSP taken off at source?
You should be able to get a good idea as the biweekly pay is 40 hours at the rate of $147 per hour. I believe 1st year captain pay works out to $5800 prior to deductions. Best guess would be just about half of that amount would be take home +/- family medical dental plan and retirement savings.

Re: Take home pay
Wouldn't it be 42.5 hours? In either case take home should be at least $4k per pay without the per diems and OT. When I was there my take home was never less than $3000 per pay cheque without per diems and OT, even on the old scale (before even you).Arnie Pye wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 9:12 am You're going to get a wide range of take home pay. If in doubt you can use this:

Found it to be pretty accurate.

Re: Take home pay
Depending on your home province, but quickly after taxes in Ontario you're looking at one smaller pay around 3300$ and the other pay depends on what you did, perdiems, overtime as applicable, etc. For example my mid month pay in January was 6200$. Those are after taxes, first year captain.
Hope this helps.
Re: Take home pay
So paid bi-monthly? about 12400 take home per month not inclusive of OT/per diem, etc..the_new_guy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:28 pmDepending on your home province, but quickly after taxes in Ontario you're looking at one smaller pay around 3300$ and the other pay depends on what you did, perdiems, overtime as applicable, etc. For example my mid month pay in January was 6200$. On another thread, Chief Pilot said “take home pay in Ontario approximately $8000 for year 1 CA and $4300 for year 1 FO not including overtime or per diems”.Blueontop wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:57 amSo paid bi-monthly? about 12400 take home per month not inclusive of OT/per diem, etc..the_new_guy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:28 pmDepending on your home province, but quickly after taxes in Ontario you're looking at one smaller pay around 3300$ and the other pay depends on what you did, perdiems, overtime as applicable, etc. For example my mid month pay in January was 6200$. Isn’t Y1 CA $150K, which should be roughly 12k after tax, is there a lot of deductions or other things?rudder wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 9:10 amOn another thread, Chief Pilot said “take home pay in Ontario approximately $8000 for year 1 CA and $4300 for year 1 FO not including overtime or per diems”.Blueontop wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:57 amSo paid bi-monthly? about 12400 take home per month not inclusive of OT/per diem, etc..the_new_guy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:28 pm

Re: Take home pay
You are looking at a 30% tax bill. Add CPP/EI and union dues/pension contribution means keeping 60-66% of gross seems accurate.Blueontop wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 3:23 pmIsn’t Y1 CA $150K, which should be roughly 12k after tax, is there a lot of deductions or other things?

Re: Take home pay
To be clear, that 6200$ included a little overtime pay, perdiems, etc.Blueontop wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:57 amSo paid bi-monthly? about 12400 take home per month not inclusive of OT/per diem, etc..the_new_guy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:28 pmDepending on your home province, but quickly after taxes in Ontario you're looking at one smaller pay around 3300$ and the other pay depends on what you did, perdiems, overtime as applicable, etc. For example my mid month pay in January was 6200$. You're looking at a bare minimum of 6600-6700$ monthly tax free. Then add perdiems, overtime, extras, etc.

Re: Take home pay
Hell of a lot better take home than at WJ. Year 1 FO here is $1280 and $1800 for take home each check (if contributing 20% to the WSP)
I bet a Calgary left seat wouldn’t take 16 years either. Food for thought!

Year 1 CA $147.06 x 85 = $12,500 gross per monthtbaylx wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 8:46 am This is directly from HR;

Looks like pay is semi-monthly, not biweekly.
