Front page on CTV National News. It actually mentions Pilot Pay. Very good article, the only thing I wish it would also mention is the stark difference between Canadian wages and the rest of the world (and NO, I am not just talking about the USA).
New pilots at AC and WJ are paid less than pilots at Pakistan Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Egypt Air, Turkish Airlines, Air India, etc.
This is absolutely insane to think about when you are comparing the drastic difference in cost of living between Canada and the countries served by the airlines above.
Finally a good news report. Front page CTV news

You really think that an Egypt Air pilot or Air India pilot came from the shanties of Cairo or New Delhi and then goes back to live there? If you’ve ever spent any time in a developing country you know that the divide between the rich and poor is vast and you’ll rarely ever see a “common” national rise up to be an airline pilots…. .and the cost of a western lifestyle is just as and sometimes more expensive than one in Canada.Dronepiper wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 8:47 am https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/attract ... -1.6261503

Another article from CBC from a week ago sheds more light on this:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/pilot- ... -1.6728731
The title is "A shortage of pilots is making travel chaos in Canada even worse", but from the article itself:

The title is "A shortage of pilots is making travel chaos in Canada even worse", but from the article itself:
In the fall, Sunwing applied to bring in more than 60 temporary foreign workers to meet demand for pilots, but that application was rejected, which exacerbated the chaos seen at the end of 2022. The airline has since cancelled almost all flights out of Saskatchewan and most out of Manitoba for the rest of the winter travel season.
"As a large global carrier operating the most modern, largest aircraft, we are a very desirable destination for talented pilots," AIr Canada said. "As a result, we are able to attract pilots as required."

Does it cost 1.8 million CAD to buy a basic house in Cairo? Because that’s the average cost of a detached house in Vancouver.
