Dear AvCanada Virtual Community,

I can't decide whether I should go Sith or Jedi.

I have given myself a deadline of this weekend to decide. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages. I must stop dithering, and choose one. This is my weekend schedule:

FRIDAY (after work)
1. Buy lots of beer
2. Pick up all 6 Star Wars episodes at Blockbuster (III thru VI reserved as I type this)
3. Buy munchies and tomato juice
4. Order and pick up pizza
5. Spend night eating pizza, drinking beer, and chatting on AvCanada

SATURDAY

1. Wake up whenever
2. Pour a red-eye for the hangover
3. Have leftover pizza for breakfast
4. Check email and AvCanada
5. Watch episodes I through VI of Star Wars

SUNDAY

1. Wake up whenever
2. Pour a red-eye for the hangover
3. Have a leisurely day washing dishes, doing laundry, chatting on the phone, and possibly doing a little work on the Paseo. (Paseo optional)
4. Check AvCanada at some point (before sun-down because I'm afraid of the dark, and they say fear leads to the dark side and I want to use my critical thinking skills and not be biased with fear) , and make my decision about whether or not I wanna go Sith or Jedi.
5. Post choice on AvCanada

I will endeavour to keep you updated on my thought process throughout the weekend. I am open to any input you may have.

I saw you list your schedule but that's about it....

"going" as a jedi or sith, where? Online RPG, Movie theatre, Halloween party?

Sith is all about emotion and jedi's are all about "critical thinking" so you've already chosen the wrong path....

Gotta be sith. Worth choosing sith just for the double-bladed lightsaber. Plus, there's none of that troublesome celibacy thing. Ya gotta know that Count Dooku was using his sith mind control powers to maintain a Hugh Hefner style harem!

You definitely should go Jedi so you don't get so angry and paranoid that you try to choke your woman. Also, so that you can have normal offspring who will also become Jedis.

I think you should go Sith. Chicks always talk about how they want the nice, clean-cut guy, but always go for the dirty biker. Plus I'm sure the Jedi would never teach you how to use the force to do a chick from across the room. Man that would be an awesome power. Then if you found out you didn't actually like her, "You don't want to move in with me... these aren't the droids you're looking for." Jedi are probably all agains the boose too.
Oh, and as Sith, you can soundlike you're breathing through a regulator all the time. (ofcourse you would have to be horribly deformed first)
Either way, it would be fun, think of the flying possibilities... "I'm #1 for the feild, Jazz wants to go back to Toronto... and I already told you these aren't the fucking droids you're looking for!!!!"

Update Thursday night:

I just called Blockbuster, and some corporate flunkie said that they only do same day reservations. I explained that I was doing research for my choice to go Jedi or Sith. I used some mind tricks on him, and he broke corporate policy with, "Well OK, I'll do it this time, but just so you know, Blockbuster only does same day reservations."

Yeah, the force is strong with this one, and I'll be rockin' all day Saturday with Chewie and the Gang!

So far the poll is showing that I should Sith it up, and all of your arguements are helpful and compelling. That decision on Sunday will be a tough one.

A Star Wars update:

I had a case of premature Star Warsulation tonight and watched The Phantom Menace with my beer and pizza.

I went into the chatroom and lilfsssister and flybabe were deflowering everyone in sight!

It got so crazy that the Force was too much for my computer. It was bogging down and I got scared. (Sith) But many great people comforted me in the room so I felt a bit better. (Jedi)

I'm still sitting on the fence, so I think I'll hit some Clones now. If I pass out half way through, then I'll have to redo the whole thing tomorrow, as I must be pure in my thoughts on my decision, which I will be posting on Sunday.

At last indication, my poll was reading about 50/50 Jedi/Sith +/- .05% 19 times out of 20.

I'm due for a slice of cold pizza now too, as the munchies are starting to kick in.

Saturday morning update:

I made it about half way through III before falling asleep. I believe I hit "pause" before I nodded off, so I'll just pick it up from there.

I found out that petite and sar are coming to town today, and that there may be partying to be had. (well, that's a given)

As such, I must get to watching the rest of my research movies.

All boozy last night, I felt fear- the dark side- creeping in, as Aniken was acting like a little whiny bitch in Attack of the Clones, and totally turning me off the Jedi way of life. WTF! Yoda isn't no bitch, nor is Windoo, and Aniken is the Chosen One? Man, I better get watching.

It's 09:17 local, and I have about 7 hours of research to go.

Oh yeah, I bought some hair gel the other day, and have experimented with it this morning. I'm looking a little more like a handsome Jedi- all slicked back, but that may change as I evolve more and more into a couch potato today.

Will keep you posted.

Update Saturday 19:08 local:

It's been Star Wars and a few pops all day.

Half way through IV, petite and sar came a knockin' at my door. What a trip!

sar gave me a banana phone, and petite gave me some NavCanada contraband. What? Do I look like I'm a captain of a carillion ship or something? With my new gel-slicked hair, perhaps.

Later- half way through The Empire Strikes Back, petite's mom called. WTF? I was freaked because she sounded like my ex-girlfriend on the phone, and wasn't phased at all when I answered the telephone with the greeting, "May the force be with you!"

So confusing, this decision is.

Sith or Jedi, Jedi or Sith.

And after reading some posts here, how will this affect my interations with Transport Canada?

So much to think about, I have.

Jedi Sith update 09:41 Pm local (can't add 12):

Just finished Return of the Jedi.

Turns out Vader was just a WANNABE Sith, so he couldn't really have the full power of the Dark Side. And the Emperor was a dumb @#$! that didn't wanna carry a light sabre when he knew a Jedi was coming. WTF?

Of course Luke had some great buds that pulled his whiny ass out of the fire a few times, so how powerful is the Good side?

Much to think about, I have.

Now Yoda kicks some serious ass. That's a given, but he's an old bastard. 900 years before he croaked, and he was seriously ageist (calling Dr. Phil!). As he didn't want anyone older than a fetus to be trained. (this goes against my theory of "you're never too old".) So you got a midichlorian count that's out of this world, but no, you're fucking over the hill at 10 years old. OK go get snapped up by an unregulated Sith? WTF? Is the funky-good Jedi side really all that smart?

Man, I'm glad I have friends in town, and a whole bunch of booze awaiting me tonight. Friends that don't @#$! with my mind and all of this Force stuff.

Gotta go. Will inform you of my decision tomorrow before the great sun goes below the horizon.

Noon Sunday- Decision Day:

I had a little brekky, and I'm having a red-eye right now.

I fixed up the fuel door on the Paseo today too. It was flapping in the breeze, and I put a $1.29 Crappy Tire cupboard latch on the bitch. A little drilling, some screws, some pop rivets and VOILA! The force is definitely with me today.

I also hugged petite and sar good-bye as they have a big drive ahead of them.

As I do laundry and dishes, I will meditate on the values of the Jedi, and the destructive fun of the Sith.

The polls are neck and neck.

I will decide today, and henceforth you will be able to call me Master ISTP, or Lord ISTP or maybe Lord Funkadelic.

Well, it's decision time. The sun is now setting behind the clouds in beautiful Sault Ste. Marie.

The polls tell me Jedi.

Others have made it clear that Sith is the only true path to babes, fun and coolness.

I have decided after watching all 6 Star Wars movies in a row. (with beer breaks and a little sleep)

Because of my analysis that Jedi has a superior system of training, and because Yoda said the dark side is not stronger in Return of the Jedi,

I HAVE DECIDED TO GO JEDI!
