This is a Bellanca P200 Airbus serial # 702. The other big Bellanca’s that came to Canada were called Aircruisers. This was NC785 operated by New York and Suburban Airlines in the early 1930’s. It was exported to Canada in 1937 as CF-BBJ and operated by Wings Ltd. On a flight from Lac duBonnet to Bisset on March 23, 1938 a rudder mounting bolt failed and it crashed along the Manigatogan River near Long Lake. Everyone survived. There were several well travelled winter roads in the area and a knowledgeable chap I know said the wreckage was probably moved back to Lac duBonnet.

It is hard to tell from the photo but the Bellanca is sitting on a very large turntable. After taxiing up onto the turntable it is rotated so the aircraft is pointing back to the water.
