Transwest Air, Navjo's, People leaving ??
I see they just posted more Navjo jobs. They seem to be looking for guys every 3 or 4 months. Whats wrong with this company, that nobody wants to stay there ?

They do opperate in Saskatchewan, they have bases in Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La ronge, Walloston Lake, Stony Rapids, Fun du lac, Uranium City and Lynn lake in Manitoba. They do flights up to the north and into Alberta aswell.
Nobody wants to stay there because there are better jobs out there and Tranwest's brass does not make you want to work hard for them. The only thing holding that place up is the employee's, and sooner or later they get mistreated one to many times.

That is a common misconception that I take personal responsibility for. During the interview one of the cute girls that works there brought in a fruit and veggie plate, I heard the CP say "celery?". I shook my head and said "no thanks, I'm good".CAL wrote:I didnt know they actually paid pilots to fly?
Apparently he said "salary?".
F them and F their stupid Saskatechewan accents.

as far as i know
Quite a few of the turbine capts are getting interviews/jobs at jazz and they are filling the positions with other pilots... ie Navajo drivers
The Navajo co-pilots that they have do not have enough time to upgrade to Navajo capt, is my best guess.... hence looking for navajo captains.
Also they have many navajos and few turbines, so there is a bottle neck to upgrade onto the turbines and some ppl don't want to wait to upgrade and move on.......

I worked for TWA for a while. It's a classic case of no communication, I got the feeling from management that nobody gave a rats ass about me, how hard I worked, or how much effort I put in. The pay was garbage. Consequently, I no longer work for them. I now work for a company that pays me much more, appreciates my hard work, and actually gives me more than 3 days off per month. Believe it or not, there do exist good companies who treat Navajo drivers well.
Who would want to move to Northern Sask. when there are much better jobs available? Seems these days that most people with the kind of time they are looking for are moving on to bigger and better.

Captain X, you couldn't be farther from the truth.
They have only upgraded two navjo captains to turbines in the last year and they still make those guys go up north for a week to ten days every month. Seniority means absolutely nothing to Jr. You can work your ass off for him and you get nothing in return, except your cheque, the same as the lazy asshole that just started yesterday.
Glad to hear things are better for you TenForTwelve. Not one person that has ever left TWA, regrets the move.

If it were possible to give the province of Saskatchewan an enema, Wolloston Lake is where the would put the tube.Stoney is a couple of hundred miles up it. That is why a lot of companies have problems keeping pilots. It is called life style.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

I would have to say the tube goes in at Fond Du Lac. As a former co-worker used to say "Fond Du Lac is french for shallow end of the gene pool".If it were possible to give the province of Saskatchewan an enema, Wolloston Lake is where they would put the tube.
Flying a twin only doubles your chance of having an engine failure

I thought Fondulac meant Bottom of the lake?As deranged as I am I preffered fondlemycrack to baloney rapids!
It's a shame to see how amazingly disorganized everything north or La Ronge is.. Lots of money being wasted and employees being stepped on. The southern end of things looked half decent!
Well said, actually they just sent another add today...they have to learn how to treat their pilots in order to keep them...low and over wrote:Captain X, you couldn't be farther from the truth.

Same can be said on the maintenance side of things. I have a friend who was an apprentice with them up in Stony Rapids for 3 years and they told him that once he was licensed they weren't going to pay him anymore money and that he had to work out of the main base. He told them he didn't want to and they told him they were going to lay him off then. And they did. They owed him a bunch of overtime and never payed it. He said it was best to move on also as he could never get parts that he ordered and such and didn't want to be there when the shit hit the fan..........rotorhead350
All of you make northern saskatchewan sound like a horrible place. Sure it has it's ups and downs, but what about saying the nice things about it. Fond Du Lac, Stony Rapids and Wollaston have really nice people and if it wern't for them you guys probably wouldn't even have had an experiece flying for Transwest, who gives transwest most of their business???? Us northern People thats who, I'm sick and tired of all of you guys making us sound bad, we are really good people and try to make the guys feel as if they are part of the community.
