Exams affected by strikes

Post by Skysurfer1 »

Hello,

I’ve got my exam booked for tomorrow (April 26) in Ottawa and was informed last week of potential cancel due to strikes. He said to check transport canada website to find out but honestly I have found no where to tell me if it’s a go or not. I also called up and left a voicemail AND an email with nothing. Really is a pain in the butt.

Anyone find a link?!

Anyone else affected by the strikes?!

Thank you,

SKysurer

Ps back to work!!!!

Now why would you say “duh” like that. Gees. I received an email stating to check their website for further information. I’ve come on here for some outside help and response isn’t helpful.

Newlygrounded was working for the government during Covid to call people and remind them they need to get boosted. “Duh” was part of their script when calling Canadians as a response to any questions they had about the shots. Something like… “is the booster safe?” Response “duh, you don’t even have to ask this question, turn on cbc news or CNN, they have all the information on vaccines, duh!”

Newlygrounded can’t comprehend that if a private business was on strike they would still be accountable to their customers and have some communication… he thinks the government going dark and giving you no communication should be the norm. Duh!

You are beneath government workers. They are smarter, better, more deserving. Gov workers are amazing lol. This is why they talk to you like your are a piece of garbage, because they actually feel that way. It’s all they talk about while on the picket line demanding more taxes from you.

Well said Rando. Not sure if he actually is a government worker but he sure sounds like it.

My advice to the OP. Call as many local offices as you can to try and get a hold of someone and ask them if they can look up your booking even if its another office maybe they can still check or offer advice.

Barring that, if the drive isn't too far, go in anyway. Maybe they kept some appts. Im sure you want to write. If its too far, as in hours, don't bother. Its likely the doors are locked.

I don't work for the government and I don't care weather or not you get a vaccine shot as it's your personal choice. (Why do so many people make vaccines part of their personality?) Please stop putting words in my mouth.

I'm sorry whatever place you work at has zero unity, and so you feel the need to take out your anger on people who don't give their juniors flat pay, or take 10% pay cuts to capture the flying.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude but TC is bad at communication when everyone is in (disappointingly) If everyone's on strike I doubt the few non unionized managers would even know how to update the website

They are a great example of what happens when a large group has no unity

First of all this thread is about a government strike and it affecting exams. Second, since you drifted to it, the AC pilots are more unified now than ever soooo...false.

Steady on people! Remember what it's like to be a little nervous before (and about) an exam? I do! Give the OP a break, they are one of us, looking for a little teamlike behaviour....

Well my thread went south fast.

To give information for those writing exams in Ottawa the office is shut. I went in this morning, and was met by a security guy saying that the exams were indeed cancelled.

I had to go in and find out in person. Who knows when it will be over so I can get my exams completed.

Hey

I'm in the same boat. Pacific Region. I emailed them requesting an update or ETA and I haven't heard back. Sit tight, it shouldn't be long. I'm somewhat glad I have a bit of extra time to keep studying! :P

Can one get an IATRA extension if the strike results in it expiring (mine will at this point…).

Extentions might come. Depends how long the strike lasts. Keep an eye on new circulars coming out.

Hey Tubkal, do you have their email handy? I have tried emailing them, however it bounced back. Thanks!

Has anyone heard back from TC? It's been a couple of weeks now that the strike was over and no rescheduling in sight...
