Q400 VS E2

Post by capt_Z »

Just got a response from Porter for Q400. Have around 2000 Hrs with SAMRA/SARON. Should I wait for E2.

Or is there a way to go Q the move onto E?

I have 2000 ans ATPL and I was offered the Q, i think they are taking e175 guys from jazz and senior Q drivers, I didn’t meet the “matrix” for the e2 so im assuming unless you have jet time you’ll be on the Q

I was picked for an interview 3 days after applying, 2 weeks to interview then 10 days to offer then 5 weeks to GS. I don’t have anything outlining the time lines for training yet

Sounds like right now the E2 is direct entry captains and internal CA/FO transfers. If you don’t mind spending a little time on the Q side then you can bid over. Your seniority number will still slot in accordingly when you transfer over.

Definitely hold out, best way to get into the company is turn down the first offer. :smt040

Haha. Not going to lie. That's what I ended up doing! I very politely turned them down. Then they increased their pay to a more respectable level and I emailed them and said I would like to reapply and she said "No need. Just tell me when you want to start".

If you transfer over would you still need the jet PIC?

5.4.11.1 Experience Requirement
The minimum qualifications a Porter Airlines pilot requires to transition from Dash 8-400 Captain to E195- E2 Captain is as follows:
1. 1000 hours PIC on a CAR 705-level aircraft (e.g. Dash 8-400).
Note: A Porter Dash 8-400 Captain who becomes an E195-E2 First Officer may also take credit for this experience requirement when applying for an E195-E2 Captain position. They do not need to meet the Upgrade experience requirements outlined in Section 5.4.10.3, item 2.
Note: If an operational need is demonstrated, the Director, Flight Operations (or delegate) may authorize a Captain transition of a candidate that does not meet this experience requirement.
