Taxied Into Stuff thread
Must have been going quite quickly to shear a wing section off......
On 04 April 2023, the Air Partners Corp. Beechcraft King Air 350 (registration C-GKHD, serial
FL-1126) was operating as flight SDE300 on a positioning flight from Bonnyville Regional Airport
(CYBF), Alberta to Calgary International Airport (CYCC), Alberta. On board were 2 flight crew
members. Prior to the occurrence, the aircraft was parked at the northwest corner of the ramp at
CYBF. At approximately 1940 mountain daylight time, while attempting to taxi between a parked
aircraft and the hangar along the north side of the ramp, C-GKHD's left winglet struck the
southwest corner of the hangar. The flight crew then shut down the aircraft. The impact caused the
outer section of the wing, outboard of the fuel filler cap, to shear off, buckling the skin and
damaging the aileron. There were no injuries.
Maintenance action: Maintenance is assessing the damage and the manufacturer has been
contacted to assist with the development of a suitable repair.

I hate the ramp at YBF. The only way to fit a row of 1900's there is for people to back them up with their tails over the grass, but a few companies forbid this. As a result, you get there first, and take the farthest parking spot to not crowd other planes later, and then they basically box you in because either they don't receive training in backing up turboprops, or they aren't comfortable with the procedure, and then something like this happens. I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

Honestly, who here hasn't taxied into the occasional hanger at least once in their career? lol
No trees were harmed in the transmission of this message. However, a rather large number of electrons were temporarily inconvenienced.

As a rule I would park with props/boarding door overpavement. Worst part is when some arze parks in middle of ramp with no way around but off-road

C-GUGZ, a privately registered Cessna 172M was conducting a Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flight
from Burlington Executive Airpark Airport (CZBA), ON to London International Airport (CYXU), ON
with only 1 pilot onboard. After landing at CYXU, shortly after being instructed to taxi via Alfa to
Apron 3, C-GUGZ entered Apron 3 at a high speed and struck a parked Cirrus SR22 aircraft. Both
aircraft sustained substantial damage to the wings. There were no injuries.

with only 1 pilot onboard. After landing at CYXU, shortly after being instructed to taxi via Alfa to

The aircraft proceeded straight ahead on Taxiway Alpha and appeared to be taking off from the taxiway. The tower informed the aircraft they were on A, and the aircraft eventually came to a stop on A.
- A privately registered Cessna 172M from Burlington, ON (CZBA) to London, ON (CYXU) was instructed by the tower to exit Runway 15 onto Taxiway D and contact ground when off. The aircraft exited D and then taxied across G to Apron 2 without contacting ground. No impact to operations.

Taxiway notams can be kind of boring.....but can be really important.

C-GTEM, an Alkan Air Limited Beech B300 (King Air), was conducting flight AKN236 under
instrument flight rules from Vancouver International Airport (CYVR), BC, to Whitehorse/Eric
Nielsen International (CYXY), YT, with 2 crewmembers and 3 passengers on board. At 0441
Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) the crew received taxi clearance for a departure from Runway 08L
from CYVR ground control. The issued taxi clearance was via Taxiway Alpha, Hotel, clearance to
cross Runway 08R, Juliette, Mike, Mike 8 to Runway 08L. The aircraft began taxing at 0443 PDT.
At 0446 PDT, the aircraft taxied onto a portion of taxiway Hotel that was closed via notice to airmen
(NOTAM) C2398/23. The aircraft subsequently struck a lit barrier while travelling at a speed of
approximately 30 knots. This sheared the nose gear below the torque link, and the aircraft
propellers, subsequently, contacted the surface of the taxiway. The crew shut down the engines
and reported a landing gear collapse to CYVR ground control before evacuating the aircraft.
Emergency services attended the scene. There were no reported injuries. The aircraft sustained
substantial damage.
