45/hr + gas for your plane.

+ examiner fees

Hey,
Great opportunity if your grandfather doesn't mind you using it for training. You can still go to a flight school, but on the other hand it will be way cheaper to do it in your grandfather's plane.
There are a few retired bush/airline pilots out there who have forgotten more about flying than some will learn in a life time, and they are often involved in aviation still as free-lance instructors. Quite willing to teach people how to fly in their own airplane, as long as all the maintenance regs and other things are complied with.
What kind of Cessna is it?...'cause they do make jets...hehe...
What part of the country are you in? I may know someone.
Good luck!

Agreed, excellent opportunity. Your first two steps should be to:
1) Approach a flight school, or a freelance instuctor who will teach on your aircraft, and put together a training plan. Make sure you ask around in more than one place (ie shop around)
2) See the insurance company about putting you on the insurance. Make sure your coverage includes a Flight Instructor as PIC, as long as you are present in the aircraft. Flight Instructors would also prefer to have full hull insurance too.

Read some of the threads in the flight training forum. There is a collection on selecting a flight school different thoughts on different schools etc at the top labled 'announcement'. Start there. Lots of people here can answer any more questions, don't be afraid to ask. Also check out: http://www.frappr.com/avcanada to see if any one from the site is near you, most would be happy to meet and talk with you.

Hi SuperDave,

I know this is a very old post...may not reach you or anyone else here. I'm looking for a free lance to get me checked out and then help me with my IFR and CPS. I have a PPL/night. Toronto area...can anyone recommend a freelance instructor?

Thanks a lot!
