Cat 1 medical expired can I renew?

My last Cat 1 exam was on Mar 02, 2022 so it's no longer valid. I'd like to preferably renew by telemedicine but I can't even figure out if I can renewal at all or if I need a new initial exam for a Cat 1?

I renewed mine by telemedicine after a year off. TC hasn’t sent me anything…

I believe, for a CAT I holder, as long as it hasnt expired completely (ie, revert to a CAT3 and then that isn't expired) you can renew by telemedicine back to a CAT 1.

If anyone has experience with this please correct me.

A cat 1 medical does not revert to a cat 3. You can exercise the privileges of a private pilot license if the validity period for cat 1 has expired but it does not become a cat 3.

You never need to repeat the initial exam. Even if the last renewal was three decades ago, you still need only a renewal, and the medical validated a licence as soon as the CAME stamps your book.

Telemedicine is at the discretion of the CAME. For an expired medical I would imagine not.

Bumping this thread. I find myself in a similar situation. I'm 3 months past the CAT 1 validity period on my MC - so able to fly as '"private pilot". Would like to telemedicine to renew to CAT 1 (live remote). Have reviewed CAME 002-2023 and not seeing any reference for or against this situation. Sounds like this could be at the discretion of the CAME?

Does anyone else have experience with this or direct knowledge?
