Westjet blocking average
Hello! I was just wondering what the blocking average has been like in YYZ and if there is any OT available? Thanks.
Re: Westjet blocking average
Afternoon,
Min monthly guarantee is 77.5 with OT triggers I believe above 85 hours. Typically we never hit the OT trigger in a normal scheduled month. So depending on the month you would be between the two numbers. As for overtime. Yes lots of overtime based on our social bidding system. As per the new contract the hundreds of hours not built into schedules will now be released at once for pilots to pick up from flica. Hasn't been implemented yet but is coming.

Re: Westjet blocking average
I've been blocked close to 85(credit, actual flight time was less) hours during the winter months, spring and now summer has been right around 77.5.
OT is almost always available from my experience.
I am working 12 days/month, every month other than vacation months. And the trips seem to be getting more efficient.
I'm averaging 6.35 flights hours/day for the last 2 months.

Talking about the hundreds of hours not built into schedule, will the new pilots who just completed their LID be able to get some of it or it will only be reserve until they are out of the bottom 10/20%?Oleo 4 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 11:41 am Afternoon,

Also I know it's very new, but how many hours can a new recruit expect to be flying per month?
Thank you.

It’s a little early to have an answer to this. Reserve pilots were under-utilized in the previous CA due to the call out order. With that being changed with the new CA I think reserve pilots will be flying more but how much more depends on a few things. When a pairing becomes available, how the company decides to use their “insurance”.Romain wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 1:33 amTalking about the hundreds of hours not built into schedule, will the new pilots who just completed their LID be able to get some of it or it will only be reserve until they are out of the bottom 10/20%?Oleo 4 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 11:41 am Afternoon,

Re: Westjet blocking average

Works for me, that's actual flight time. With trip rigs and the rest, the credit ends up being more.
So like I said I work 12 days a month. And that's not doing single days. Guys working single days work less days.
Lots of variety for what ever work you prefer to do.

Ok got it. Let's see how it goes in the next few months then.truecolours wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 6:43 amIt’s a little early to have an answer to this. Would love to see your bid working 12 days with multi day pairings. I'm 15-16 every monthMorePower! wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2023 8:13 pm

Re: Westjet blocking average
I'm coming over from a regional, just curious what a typical 4 day pairing looks like. At the regional I work at I do 4-6 leg days for either min credit or just over min credit
Re: Westjet blocking average
I prefer being home to a hotel. I wouldn’t be happy with multiple 4 day pairings yielding 6.25 hours a day.
I saw the 85% satisfaction comment. 85% of what? 4 day pairings? Or 85% of requested days off? 85% of stuff you don’t actually want is zero. Even if you bid it.

Satisfaction score. Points awarded divided by max points possible if you got everything you bid.ads-b wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 9:06 pm I prefer being home to a hotel. I wouldn’t be happy with multiple 4 day pairings yielding 6.25 hours a day.
