C1/D Visa and Changing Airlines
Anybody had any issues with a C1/D visa as a PR when the visa was obtained with company A but now employed with company B? Very little information on this out there. Thanks!

C1/D Visas are independent from companies (One can obtain the visa without being employed at the time, can’t use it though).
As long as you are arriving into the states as a required crew member on a foreign aircraft, you are good.

Thanks! Was pretty sure this was the case, but never hurts to double check.Aviator3925 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:20 am C1/D Visas are independent from companies (One can obtain the visa without being employed at the time, can’t use it though).

Yes, you can apply for one without a job, as long as you have status in Canada plus a Canadian CPL/ATPL.1fltatatym wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 4:41 pm can someone please shed some light on getting the C1D visa? there are companies out there wanting people to have it before even becoming crew
1. Do DS-160 application (If you have a B1/B2 it will help - otherwise apply for this too in the same application)
2. Explain at Consulate Interview that you are a pilot seeking employment with a Canadian company that flies into the US. Having the C1D is a pre-requisite for employment.
3. They will ask at the interview to see your pilot license, PR / WP etc. Also heard of some guys being asked some general aviation questions at the interview (what is V1, Vs, MTOW etc) , to check that you are a pilot (true story).
Goof luck.

C1D has nothing to do with getting a job in the USA. It’s for foreign passport holders that require visas to enter the USA flying on foreign aircraft.canadian_aviator_4 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 9:51 pm Why are you guys coming to Canada when the us is so much better?

I'm pretty sure the most important document needed to secure the visa is to get a letter from your employer.

I’m asking why make any effort to come to Canada with any visa, when you could do the same to go to the us.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 3:14 amC1D has nothing to do with getting a job in the USA. Visa/PR. rules are different. Not everybody wants to live in the US either. It's not always better.canadian_aviator_4 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 12:38 pmI’m asking why make any effort to come to Canada with any visa, when you could do the same to go to the us.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 3:14 amC1D has nothing to do with getting a job in the USA. As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Does applying for C1/D visas really have waiting times of more that 700 days as shown in the US embassy website?
