Is it finally time?
Whether it’s a viable option or not, motions need to be put forward to the union asking for a vote to remove the MEC due to lack of leadership and not protecting the CA.
Emails need to be sent to the MEC asking them to make more of an effort or step down and make way for someone who will.
The Jazz ship is sinking and the captain of the MEC was the first one on the life rafts months ago! There’s no fight in this group.
To think this current MEC will be able to turn things around and come back from the damage that has been inflicted to the pilot group is a delusional thought.
This MEC pushed (very aggressively) the 17 yr deal. You’re working with the regional version of ACPA.
Time to start working together. Strength in Numbers. Get loud and fight for your future.

Re: Is it finally time?
Don't confuse the MEC with incompetence at AC. We can't shove a contract down their throat. We can, however, make things uncomfortable for them. The MEC, in my opinion is doing that. They do not need to step down, nor should we be pushing for that right now.strengthinumbers wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 4:01 pm Whether it’s a viable option or not, motions need to be put forward to the union asking for a vote to remove the MEC due to lack of leadership and not protecting the CA.

Why can't we see the numbers.. Don't forget, they work for US.. are paid by US and are accountable to US..
Keeping us outside the loop is not acceptable.

During ongoing talks/negotiations you will never see "the numbers". Ask any airline, any labour group, any party ever who is actively negotiating and they won't ever show their members the numbers. Who does see "the numbers" is the MEC on a whole, all elected LEC members who you voted in. Those elected LEC members are the ones driving the bus and giving the exec/negots committee their marching orders. Your elected LEC members are listening to you and acting on your behalf.....you voted them in. Talk to them, give them your feedback if you're upset.....AvCanada isn't the best way to get your point across to them. Have you reached out to your LEC reps?Man_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 8:21 pm Why can't we see the numbers.. Don't forget, they work for US.. are paid by US and are accountable to US..

The pilot group had 2 polls in 12mths and the whole MEC/LEC is negotiating off those results....hopefully you all were honest with your answers. If for example you said you need 50-100% raise to vote yes, then thats what the MEC is basing their decisions on.

You work for Air Canada mainline correct?strengthinumbers wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 4:01 pm Whether it’s a viable option or not, motions need to be put forward to the union asking for a vote to remove the MEC due to lack of leadership and not protecting the CA.

Is now the time to divide and distract....I don't agree
I believe the Jazz MEC has held the line that the membership has wanted for the past 12+ months. Its far easier to hindsight the 17 year deal...as with all things in life. You make a decision and then you live with it. 75+% of the pilot group votes YES for the 17 year deal.

WOW, the new pay scales at Porter clearly targeting Jazz and Encore.
I certainly hope Jazz can get in-front of this. Sadly, I think Jazz pilots are quickly running out of excuses to stay with team Red.

TBH nothing will happen at Jazz until Mainline negotiations are over 5-6 months from now. Remember Jazz salaries are compressed by mainline.Transition9er2 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 12:18 pm WOW, the new pay scales at Porter clearly targeting Jazz and Encore.

Jazz and AC have not even brought a knife to a gun fight. Maybe just a water pistol.a2btrail wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 12:24 pmTBH nothing will happen at Jazz until Mainline negotiations are over 5-6 months from now. More impact is felt every day by attrition.
The parties may not like the circumstances, but the ground is shifting under their feet.
Where Jazz finds itself today was a choice. Maybe not Jazz’s choice, but nonetheless it is a choice.

Encore is made up of people who want YYC base and people who had a YYZ base and are holding out until flow to WestJet.Transition9er2 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 12:18 pm WOW, the new pay scales at Porter clearly targeting Jazz and Encore.

Negotiations for the new contract are weeks away from beginning and leverage is high for the pilots.

Sounds like Porter will be matching pay for anyone with Q and E2 ratings. 5yr FO at Jazz will be hired at yr 5 Porter Q FO rate.
Just hearsay for now, but amazing if true!
Re: Is it finally time?
It's confirmed that the Dash YOS can carry from other operators, only Dash not E2

First thing that occurs when you are voted into a union is you sign an NDA which clearly states anything company you see cannot be shared. You will never see the minute numbers for a variety of reasons.Man_in_the_sky wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 8:21 pm Why can't we see the numbers.. Just for the DH8 pilots, not the E2. As it is, you come from Jazz as a YR1 EMB pilot, your already instantly making about 90k more than Jazz, and that gap gets bigger with time with Porter.
