YYC ATR working conditions

Post by BlackHawkOne »

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for infos on the YYC base on the ATR, what type of pairing do they do ? More of early morning flight or night flights ? Do those pairings are profitable in terms of flight hours ? How is the working atmosphere there ? Any inside point of view would be appreciated, thanks.

Don't work there, so I could be way off, but sounds like a 0500-0530 show fly to yqr, yxe sit in a hotel until 1600 then fly back to yyc. And due to new duty rules prob only 3 days a week, so not a huge time builder. Basically feeding to from the 757.

The check-in times for the day-hold flights are 0800-0830, Monday to Friday, so they work out to ~10 hour days with a rest in the hotel. There are also 0245 check-ins Tuesday through Thursday to go to YXE and YQR, but they're quick turns, so usually ~6 hour shifts, and 2115 check-ins for red eyes to YWG Monday through Thursday; those are ~9 hours, and only ever scheduled for two per week, usually with the other two nights being reserve. There are no flights on weekend or stats, and on average crews only fly two days a week, with some additional reserve.

Not really. A few YYC pilots have moved to the jet, but it's more much appealing to those who want a lifestyle job. They don't usually want to move to YYZ, and they like having weekends off and sleeping in their own beds.
