WestJet 737 FO VS Porter E2 FO
With both WestJet and Porter E2 now having similar salaries, which Airline is better to work for?
Re: WestJet 737 FO VS Porter E2 FO
Porter for upgrade time. The difference in career earnings would be astronomical.

Straight salary and rrsp/pension ( and bi weekly cash payment at wj) comparison between WestJet and Porter with current upgrade time at wj and upgrade at Porter after one year-
WJA- $7,766,122
Porter$7,309,566
Notes- mmg used for both carriers over thirty year career. Rrsp/pension contributions as per current Porter/wj rates. Includes time on 787 as fo and captain as per current seniority at wj. No profit share included at either.
Further Notes re. Wj. Max 18 days worked for pure reserve holder, max 16 days worked for mixed reserve and line holder. Flica used for shift drops and adds. Myidtravel for non revenue travel. Adequate benefits, however ltd cost is quite high. As a wj pilot, I’ve no idea regarding regarding Porter working conditions.
My own personal opinion- if I live out west, I would target WJ. If out east, i would target AC. Porter is a fine carrier to hang one’s hat it seems, however I would be targeting AC and WJ firstly.
One other note to consider, I’d personally prefer access to part one of the Canada labour code. Both WJ and AC pilots have access as a byproduct of being represented by ALPA. As Porter is not unionized, they do not have access to part one of the code. The numbers and wawcon are facts. My preference re AC and WJ are opinion only.
Edit: to include over thirty year career added

Those numbers are over 25 years? What does AC come out to for comparison?slob driver wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 6:10 pmStraight salary and rrsp/pension ( and bi weekly cash payment at wj) comparison between WestJet and Porter with current upgrade time at wj and upgrade at Porter after one year-

Not true. Despite the long upgrade times at Westjet you may reach the top of the pay scale sooner. Westjet's top pay is higher and YOS carry over which they do not at Porter. Depending on how many working years you have left Westjet can be better in the long term. And according to my calculations AC comes out about halfway between Porter and WJ.
Re: WestJet 737 FO VS Porter E2 FO
So...don't dilly dally in the right seat. Eventually when the operation stabilizes, I would imagine they'll have to introduce YOS.
FYI, Porter has shown to be much more responsive to salary growth versus Westjet. If Porter continues on this path, it will eclipse Westjet in short order when it comes to 25 year compensation.

Porter if you are east and WJ is u out West.
