Re: No more water for pilots on the aircraft
Yikes, can't imagine things are going well if they're down to such cost cutting methods. Wasn't the CEO just quoted saying that the balance sheet wasn't in great shape? Such statement would have tanked the stock if it was publicly traded.

Where did that quote come from?

“The balance sheet is not in great shape," Jones added, but noted the interest is "non-cash" — no monthly payments required — and merely adds to the principal. "At some point there will be some form of reckoning, whether it's a restructure or whatever."
Sounds like those new 95 year mortgages. Doesn’t seem like this is going to end well, but then again Amazon, Uber, Tesla, etc were all built off not so great balance sheets. This will either be a gold mine or a jetsgo.

Wow, must be slow on AvCanada these days.
What the FA memo actually said was that we are cutting down the excess number of water bottles we carry around unused all day. Crew were encouraged to bring a reusable personal bottle to reduce wastage and numerous half-empty plastic bottles. If you don't have one you still get the regular plastic bottle, no change to the current process.

I currently have at least 5 half full 1.5 litre bottles of Whistler Water on various tables around my house. It's wasteful, and I just don't need 1.5 litres of water for a single day turn. I have one FO who can drink 2 of them in a YUL turn, but he also has to go to the lav nearly once an hour
. There's nothing wrong with a company asking us to not waste resources.

If you don't need it on your flight, couldn't you just say no thank you?co-joe wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:30 pm I currently have at least 5 half full 1.5 litre bottles of Whistler Water on various tables around my house. What I read here, you are single and need a housekeeper, seriously 5 half full bottles around your place. It also sounds like you personally are responsible for them asking the crews to stop wasting.co-joe wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:30 pm I currently have at least 5 half full 1.5 litre bottles of Whistler Water on various tables around my house. Btw, I don’t see a problem with a company trying to reduce cost whenever they can, they should provide the resources to enable that and not put the onus on you.
I have a great product for this, it’s a brita water bottle that has changed my life(joke), I find the water fill stations in the airports have a strong chlorine taste and smell, this bottle completely gets rid of that.
P.S; reducing COSTS, not wages and not more work for more money, ideally, less work for more or at the very least same work for more.

That's from 1 week of flying. I don't waste a drop, that's why I bring them home. Lots of pilots just throw them in the trash at work with a couple sips gone. The thought of a precious resource like water spending the rest of eternity trapped in a plastic bottle underground makes me sick.

You know you can reuse pretty much every plastic bottle, right?
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship
