How long does it take typically from the hirevue pre-screen to an interview invite?

Boggles the mind that people are still applying here, I sincerely hope jazz is the last resort for people trying to escape the north/instructing.

Re: New hire bids
I think Jazz is a pretty good place to start your airline career, especially for a "750 hrs" guy.
1. Pay went up for first year F/Os
2. Have the opportunity to fly an E175, CRJ900 or Q400, all airplanes that look really good on a resume.
3. Have decent flight passes for your family (and believe me, many people use them, including myself).
4. Very good per diems
5. A good safety record
6. Decent destinations and layovers.
7. Nice people to work with.
8. An actual schedule
9. Good benefits
10. You can post photos of your jet on Instagram. The ladies go wild over that

But seriously, it is a great place to work for someone with less experience. What else do you want when you're at 700 hrs? You're here to learn, get your hours and eventually move on... or not. Sure as hell beats flying a B200 to Arviat in the middle of the night, in -40*C throwing engine tents on. This place is amazing for the young pilots... but I know, at 1000 hrs, you should be right seat on a 787 to Athens... Life sucks!
Re: New hire bids
Yep, at 750 hours I was flying left seat of a pressurized piston in the left seat up North, would have killed to be right seat of an RJ etc..RoAF-Mig21 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 4:32 pmI think Jazz is a pretty good place to start your airline career, especially for a "750 hrs" guy.

Certainly didn’t have an expectation of that because the only way to that was thousands of hours but I find new pilots these days feel they are entitled to it.
I had one new hire say, in regards to a discussion on our new wages, paraphrasing, what do you expect at low time, 100k a year is not realistic maybe if you come here with a few thousand hours. I was blown away because he was a low time new hire saying this. He even supported paying more for experience, ie; starting higher on the pay scale with more than 3000 hours.
However this is one in a hundred, the rest think they should be paid 100k while they bide their time waiting for AC. I will say though, just going off inflation from when I started, the first year pay should be around 90k but I was also lowish time in my class, 6000 hours, a couple with 5000 but everyone else had more than me.
Re: New hire bids
Just 22 ex-SKV pilots included in the 2024 vacation bidding list (management and training dept pilots excluded). ZERO in YUL.rudder wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 6:59 pmIf I had to guess, less than 20% of the eligible ex-GGN pilots are still at Jazz. Perhaps closer to 10%.
Ex-SKV will likely be less than 33% by year end. It is what it is.
Jazz didn’t want pilots to treat being a CPA pilot as a ‘career’ job. They got their wish.
Original transfer eligibility was 280 SKV pilots.
Most have left for AC, PD, TS. Jazz never gave them a reason to stay.
Re: New hire bids
Hard to understand why fences weren’t put up. Quite a few sky pilots left to AC without a year on Jazz property same with GGN. Glad the MEC gave them DOH, they made could use of it and left.
Re: New hire bids
So, for everyone that railed against DOH for SKV and GGN pilots.. There are literally none left out west and only a very very small amount out east. Not enough to negatively impact the current pilot populace anyways. I mean we can barely keep machines staffed as is!
Re: New hire bids
Now we have pilots working past 65 here too.

Re: New hire bids
The DOH didn’t matter that much especially with SKV. They started up 2016. Everyone hired at jazz before that day was laughing anyway.
Jazz needed to get the e1 operation going. It just made sense and like previously mentioned, It hardly impacted many. Keeping my DOH for jazz didn’t help a single bit on the E1. Every month by seniority would drop and I was sitting pretty decent at SKV.
So I left. Like most of sky. There was zero future at jazz. And it’s looking bleak at the moment.
Maybe you’ll get absorbed into AC, and the ones who fought back against DOH will find themselves begging for it.
Re: New hire bids
That’s not accurate for YUL. I know of several ex SKV guys in YUL base in both seats that are still at Jazz.rudder wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 6:14 amJust 22 ex-SKV pilots included in the 2024 vacation bidding list (management and training dept pilots excluded). Known departures for AC flow are removed.
Re: New hire bids
Rudder I know what I'm talking about because I've flown with several of these guys. I looked at the 2024 vacation bid and they are still there. It's easy to tell who the ex SKY guys are because their employee # all start the same way. Yes many have left but about 15 CA and 5 FO ex SKV remain in 2024, excluding management/TP. Yes it's a fraction of what it was, but some remain. I'd hazard a guess that if they haven't left by now, they will probably ride out this Jazz rollercoaster long term.
Re: New hire bids
You are correct. It is about a 9% retention rate for former SKV pilots and not much higher for former GGN pilots.hithere wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 5:42 pm Rudder I know what I'm talking about because I've flown with several of these guys. The original integrated list from June 2021 was 1726 pilots at Jazz and latest list is 1327 pilots. Bottom pilot hired prior to COVID shutdown moved up 700 spots (equaling the total attrition over the 27 month time span not including pilots hired since June 2022 that have also resigned). That is an average of at least 26 resignations per month.
That pretty well sums up what has been going on with pilot recruitment and retention at Jazz since the COVID recovery.
Re: New hire bids
The ground school this week had a bid of:
YYC: CRJ 1
YYC: Q400 7
YVR: CRJ 6
YYC: CRJ 1
YYC: Q400 7
YVR: CRJ 6
Re: New hire bids
Can't even get 15 in a ground school, let alone 20.... the new pay really seems to be working well. And how many of those 14 had ATPLs?

Is it normal for so many positions to be awarded out west? Surprised it’s not mostly YYZ/YUL.

Possibly the number in class is what jazz desires and without ATPL. I’ve applied recently with ATPL, no contact to date from them.
