What if I lost my logbook?

I have an Excel logbook as well. Started it at about the same time as my paper one and have since kept it up to date.
On top of hour totals it gives out times on types, registrations flown, names recorded and airports stopped at on a separate report page. (This involves VLOOKUPs and a bit of VBA to clean it up.)
I haven't done the total in the last x days yet, although as others have said, provided you use Excel data formats, shouldn't be much trouble.
Has anyone here built something in regards to duty days? I'd like to take a look if you don't mind.
Goodbye,
Louis

First of all, I never carry my logbooks around with me... they stay safe at home. I use both paper and electronic format. I keep the electronic format backed up on 2 seperate computers, and also on hotmail. I've used this logbook for a few years now... and it's a really good one, the best I've found. And not too expensive.

I have to admit that logging the hours on the electronic at first was a pain since I had a lot of hours to log... but it was well worth it.
As for my licences, I keep them in a licence wallet that I keep in my shirt pocket. The secret I think is consistancy.

I keep my logbook in a fireproof place. I photocopied it and had the copy notarized. Cost me $35. I keep the photocopied version up to date get the new pages notarized every year or so. A notarized copy has more legal weight than simply an electronic version that could be buffed and shined.

My logbook got badly water damaged 5 or so yrs ago. Much of it was rendered unreadable, well it probably was before anyway due to my handwriting. I went back to my flight school, first and second employers, copied out the hours from all the original aircraft logs. What a pain in the ass. Took my the better part of a 40hr work week.
Now I use my digital camera and take a picture of each logbook page as I complete another one. Works great. Takes seconds. Save the pictures to CD and keep it somewhere safe. Would be a pain to copy out if I ever had to again, but at least I'd have all the info.

Dear Santa Claus;
If you could kindly send me a PM I would love to give you my email address so that you can send me your excel made logbook software. I appreciate the fact that you worked very hard to make this Excel program and I would in no way ever take credit for this hard work. I would use it only for my personal benefit and would give you my eternal gratitude.
thank you in advance.
