Type Rating Expiry After 24 Months Part 604

Post by Beechball »

Hi All,

After searching CAR 604, failed to find a clear reference to the following.....

For Private 604 Ops on Turbine Transport Category, does a person need to redo an initial type rating course if they've exceeded 24 months on a competency check ride?

The CAR's make it clear that this is the case for Part 704 & Part 705 but I can't find the wording for Part 604 ops.

Example, it's been 3 or 4 years since a candidate has flown the type. Wants to get re-validated for Part 604 ops ONLY. Is it a recurrent course or the full on initial course?

If you know, please post the CAR's link also.

Thanks!

You will not find much regarding 604 training requirements in the CARs. The training requirements of a private operator are listed in their own OPS manual and approved by Transport, those individual training requirements are dependant on the needs of each operator.

That being said most Turbine 604 operations will have 4 years or first day of the 49th month from the previous (PCC or PPC) checking event on type before the individual would need to complete a full initial. Your POI would be the final authority.
