Anybody else wondering when the pay is ever going to reflect the actual "supply and demand" situation??

I think it’s a great tactic. Advertise a job in Canada for low pay. Get no responses I can only hope or ignore the ones you get. Hire TFW’s based on no responses at even lower pay. Brilliant.

This is the reason why I left the industry and did not look back! (I threw away all my qualifications such as my license, RAIC, AVOP, ROC, everything) This is a slave wage and they expect too much from you! Who in their right mind will do this job? TFWs? There are many foreign professionals that went to this country and ended up taking odd jobs just to make a living here. If you can't make a living with your profession, if you can't find a stable job with your major, then you have to be flexible here in Canada whether you are a foreign worker or Canadian!

If I remember correctly, they pay you exactly the same 10 years ago with less requirements than what is listed here!

This is ridiculous! They should be grateful that people work for them, not the other way around!

I was wondering wtf "maintenance facility" ac has in regina, lol. You guys just confirmed it.

It sounds like its tough sledding to staff this position as they are cold contacting on linkedin trying to find bodies.

The illustrious big red has to resort to chasing talent. I love it

It is an insultingly low rate, I admit… but I believe it is the current “Aircraft Technician 1” rate in accordance with their collective agreement. Note that this is separate from the “Aircraft Maintenance Engineer” rates, which are very slightly higher….

So it’s not just in Regina, it’s that rate everywhere!

When one takes into account that the majority of those positions are at YYZ, YVR, etc, it really enforces how ridiculous the expectations are that they believe that people will respond en masse to thier ad's.

I know the types that will, and they are more than welcome to take them. No way in hell I would consider working in that kind of environment let alone leading and doing forever graveyards.

Working poverty, the new Canada.

To be fair, the majority of the AMEs I see are level 5 (you can tell by the number of stripes they wear), which at least is getting into more reasonable pay rates, but I don’t know the process to work up the different levels.
Their union is going into negotiations in a couple of years… I think they’re really hoping that other employee groups make significant gains, so they can too.

You need to be an ACA to get classified as an AME, and you move up the levels 1-4 once a year.

“To be fair, the majority of the AMEs I see are level 5”. Um I made that money 15 years ago at a 704. Really.

Just over $80k/yr for being a crew chief, if I’m reading that correctly? How much do auto techs at Toyota get paid in CYVR/CYYZ?

Toyota tech salaries range between 70G to 110G across BC. There are several outlying places (Castlegar,Smithers,Dawson Creek) that are currently looking for techs in that pay range.

That job is not perfect either but no nights, holidays, or managing a herd of engrish speakers with some woke middle managment tool mouth breathing down your neck daily.

Have they renegotiated thier collective agreement since 2016?
If not, then this still applies.

It's going to be a scale - no one negotiates a 1 year payscale. It's multi year with raises throughout the term.
