705 PIC or 737 type rating?

Post by dALre »

Hope everyone here had a fine long weekend.

I'm trying to move on from 703 operator.
Feels like I won't have better chance to make a good jump than these days.
So I've reached out to a couple and got some offers from two.

Basically it comes down as Q400 PIC or 737 jet time.

I'm still young enough (I think) to try to fly for big red later on if I end up liking 705 life style and wondering
which experience would be more valuable then?
I have none of 705 experience so have no idea which type of experience may be better.
Thank you!

Take the Jet Time! If you can get left seat on a Q400 you won't be long to get left seat on the 737. If understand what your asking. I was on a 1900 and went to Jetsgo way back. Got jet time and was always in demand. Onward and upwards.

If you meet ATPL requirements, most places have a matrix for upgrade. So if you have the necessary PIC/ToT requirements then upgrades are a combination of time served, and good behaviour(like prison). I'd go on the 737 it has more value than the q400 pic now, unless you want to fly an ATR.

737 all day long. Most airlines you’ll top turbo prop captain pay sitting right set in the 37 in only a few short years, build seniority and have a better lifestyle. Plus not having to listen to the ‘wohn…..wohn…..wohn….wohn….wohn of props forever falling out of sync.
