I’m daydreaming of a panel upgrade on my plane. It currently has old school toggle switches. I would like to go to a more modern looking rocker switch, like this:

Can anyone point me to the standard or regulation for replacement of switches on an aircraft panel? Thanks!

Re: Replacement panel switches
Read Car 551.02 and Advisory Circular (AC) No. 571-024. What your trying to do is install a Non TSO part. If you can determine and have it signed off accordingly to part B of Car 551.02 that the switch you would like to use is "safe" Then I would guess you could use those switches. I would refer to PilotDar or Photofly for more insight. But this is how I would approach using that style switch. I'm sure most Avionics shops have run into this. A call to a local one may have some advice or solutions to a certified switch that you can live with.
How can you tell which one is the pilot when you walk into a bar?....Don't worry he will come up and tell you.
